Anambra Tourism And Hospitality Agency Has Failed, Neglected Its Functions – Lawmakers

Anambra House of Assembly led by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor has approved the request to allow the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Donatus Onyenji, to execise his function as stipulated under part 3, section 24(6) of the state Tourism and Hospitality Agency law 2016.

The assembly at plenary approved the request after the Chairman house committee on culture, tourism and diaspora matters, Hon. Sonny Ozobialu presented the report asking the lawmakers to consider the request.

Ozobialu who is the member representing Nnewi South 2 constituency in his submission stated that the committee invited Mr. Donatus Onyenji, posed questions relating to the need for the approval and its implementation on the state and were satisfied from the reaction from the commissioner.

“The committee in its observation and findings realized that the Anambra Tourism and Hospitality Agency has failed and neglected her functions under part 3, section 24(6) of the state tourism and hospitality agency law 2016.

“There’s an urgent need for the Commissioner for Culture, Entertaining and Tourism to be allowed to perform as stipulated by the law”, Ozobialu submitted.

ANN reports that the committee in its recommendations based on its findings stated that the Commissioner for Culture, Entertaining and Tourism be granted approval to perform all specific duties (registration and licensing of tourism enterprises and hotels) as contained under part 3, section 24(6) of the state tourism and hospitality agency law 2016.
