Anambra State House of Assembly will on Thursday, 11th May, consider a report of the house committee on health chaired by Hon. Nnamdi Dike Umeoduagu on ‘a bill for a law to ensure the safety, health and welfare of factory workers and all persons lawfully present at factories and for other connected purposes’.
The 7th assembly will also consider the report of the joint house committee on judiciary and tertiary education on ‘a bill for a law to regulate activities in institutions established and controlled by Anambra state government or operating within Anambra state and other related matters’ sponsored by the Chief Whip Rt. Hon. Pete Ibida.
ANN recalls that on the 18th August 2022 at plenary, after the second reading of the bill it was referred to the above joint committees.
While leading the presentation on ‘a bill for a law to regulate activities in institutions established and controlled by Anambra state government or operating within Anambra state and other related matters, Rt. Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma the member representing Njikoka 1 constituency in the introduction stated that both committees meet and delibrated on the issues that was raised and after looking at various saling points comprising of the activities and excesses going on at institutions especially those been controlled by the state government, the committees saw the need for the institutions to be sanitized with proper disciplined installed so as to put lawbreakers on check by stipulating clearly the legal implications, penalties, corrections and punishments.
After some considerations, Anambra Speaker Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor at the committee of the whole advised that the presentation be continued at the next adjoined date.
