Anambra Accountant General Clamours For E-payment Module, IPSAS

 

Its necessary that Anambra state office of the Accountant General is fully computerized

 

Anambra state Accountant General (AG) Dr. Sir Chukwudi Okoli has urged the state government to upgrade it’s standard of operation through implementing International Public Sector Accounting System (IPSAS), an accounting standard worldwide.

Dr. Okoli while defending the budget with his team, pleaded with the Anambra assembly committee members on finance and appropriation to consider there budget of 18.5 million naira.

While outlining his plans for the coming year, Okoli said that the office of the Accountant General has six major departments that are independent. He emphasized on the need for more computers to be provided and for their offices to be upgraded.

Dr. Okoli who revealed that the Accountant Generals office is like the backbone of Anambra state government because it is responsible in monitoring all the accounts and transactions, stated that they have offices in the whole local government areas of the state, making it easy for those processing there pension, gratuities amongst others to have easy and fast process.

Okoli while lamenting over the condition of some of there offices, pleaded for the upgrading and replacement of their equipments, stationeries and vehicles which where vandalised by unknown gunmen

Speaking with newsmen after the bilateral budget defense Okoli stated that it is necessary that Anambra state office of the Accountant General is fully computerized.

“I made mention of E-payment module which enables one effect payment both within and outside the state which helps in tracking and monitoring of all transactions.
