Anambra Assembly Comfirms ‘Mefor’ As Commissioner For Information

The Anambra State House of Assembly on Tuesday at plenary, confirmed Dr. Law Mefor as Commissioner for Information following a letter transmitted to the House to that effect by Governor. Chukwuma Soludo.

Responding to questions from the Committee of the Whole during his screening, Dr. Mefor applauded his predecessor Sir. Paul Nwosu for doing well in the Ministry of Information, stressing that there is room for improvement.

Mefor promised to use political and strategic communication to tell ndi Anambra the good works of Mr. Governor, which according to him, have been underreported over the years.

Dr. Mefor however proposed that the Governor will set up Strategic Communication Committee to help develop messages to disseminate to diverse publics of ndi Anambra, when he begins piloting the information ministry of the state.

Following the screening, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye who presided over the plenary, announced Dr. Mefor’s confirmation where lawmakers unanimously supported the appointment through a voice vote.

Rt. Hon. Okoye urged the new Commissioner for Information to be dedicated and committed while serving ndi Anambra. He charged Mefor to key in into Soludo’s agender, promising the support and partnership of the 8th assembly.

Responding, Dr. Mefor pledged to enhance the Ministry of Information and diligently work towards realizing the Governor’s vision for the state.

Mefor who hails from Abatete in Idemili North Council Area of Anambra State, holds Postgraduate deploma in journalism, and had a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Dr. Mefor is an author, researcher, writer, novelist, poet, social critic as well as media and communication consultant.
