Anambra State house of assembly committee on public petition headed by the deputy majority leader and member representing Orumba North constituency Hon. Emeka Aforka is making every effort to settle the land dispute between Amaudo community and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
The committee members alongside the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, ministry of lands represented by the parmanent secretary, surveyors and representatives of Amaudo community visited the land at the Awka campus.
Speaking after the over-sight, Hon. Emeka Aforka appreciated both parties for bringing the protest to a halt and seeking the intervention of the Anambra state house of assembly.
“We have listerned to all the parties and have also visited the site. We want both parties to be relating cordially and remain peaceful. Do not take laws into your hands. Allow the house committee to conclude investigations.
“When all the necessary document required from both parties are provided, it will enable us to conclude our report. Our duty is to enhance peace because there is need for unity and harmony. We are not going to create more problems. We will not gain anything from that”, Aforka stated.
The representatives of both parties in their seperate speeches expressed gratitude to the committee on public petition for their efforts in making sure that the dispute was settled peacefully. They promised to abide by the law.
