* Commissioner for Youth Development, Anambra State, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba has said ‘One Youth, Two Skills is the solution to unemployment in the State. He stated this during the monitoring and evaluation of EDIs Centres at Ogbaru LGA. Agha Mba maintained that the Youth Friendly Governor Chukwuma Soludo has brought the solution to youth development through his project.
* The Senator-elect for Anambra Central District, Chief Victor Umeh, has condemned incessant killings of Christians in the Northern part of the country. Umeh stated this at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Agulu, in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State. Describing the situation as worrisome, Umeh said such issues would constitute the burning issues the 10th Senate would devote time to deliberate when inaugurated in June.
* The Director, Chisco Institute for Transportation Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Engr. Dr. Paul Okolie has eulogized the institution’s benefactor Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, CEO and Chairman, Chisco Group, for his immense contribution towards the education sector by keying into the proposal for an institute for transportation studies at UNIZIK and doling out huge funds for the actualization of the dream.Â
* The All Progressives Congress in Anambra State said it is aware that some stakeholders of the party worked against the emergence of its presidential candidate in the last election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The chairman of the party in the state, Mr Basil Ejidike stated this, during a stakeholders meeting of the party in Awka. He said henceforth, there will be reward for party members who worked hard, and also punishment for those who sabotage it. He said a committee will be set up to appropriately try and sanction those who sabotage the party.
* The Vice Chairman of the State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council and the Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Anambra state, Mrs. Edith Onwuka has praised the Head of Service, Barr. Okwy Igwegbe on restoring water reticulation in the State Secretariat. This praise came during the Joint Negotiating Council meeting held at the office of the Head of Service, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
* The Anambra State Government has commenced work on the Awka erosion control project. Speaking to newsmen at Ekwueme Square, Awka, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure said that the visit was to officially handover the project documents to the contractor IDC Construction Ltd.
* The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim has described the eight years tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari as very challenging to Nigerians. Ibezim slammed the outgoing administration, stating that it foisted all manner of hardship and suffering on the citizens of the country.
* The Chief Executive and Chairman, Chisco Group Limited, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, has paid a courtesy visit to UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, as well as embarked on a tour and inspection of the Chisco Institute for transportation studies in the institution. Anyaegbu’s visit was to inspect and assess the level of work done six months after his previous visit to the institute which he intends to make a full blown transport school having made his wealth through transportation business.
* Mrs Chinyere Ifesinachi, a 25-year-old mother of twin is currently in the police net for reportedly assaulting, torturing and battering an underage girl with pestle, cane, heated knife and other hard objects, in Anambra State. When interrogated, the suspect said she maltreated the young girl because she threw one of her twin babies on the ground, which got her provoked to beat her without mercy. While acknowledging that she used both cane, heated knife and pestle to torture the nine-year-old girl into her present condition, Mrs. Ifesinachi, however, pleaded for mercy, adding that she did not understand what came over her and why she went that far. She also claimed it was the handiwork of the devil.

Obinna Emeneka has defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) back to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).Anambra Speaker Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor on Tuesday at plenary read a letter by Emeneka notifying the house of his return to his former party APGA
* Idemili-South local government area of Anambra state is setting the agenda for rural healthcare programmes aimed at providing comprehensive medical package for those at the grassroots level. Chairperson of the council area Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi who disclosed this when she made public ” Idemili-South LGA Ward-based Medical Outreach”, noted that healthcare provision was top on the agenda of her administration and that she has gone a step further to see that pregnant women got the very best of medical care and support.
