Assembly plenary on Tuesday started with an opening prayer from the speaker Honorable Uche Okafor, he welcomed everyone present at the plenary.
Honorable Ejike Okechukwu member representing Anaocha 2 constituency expressed his joy over the exercise going on in recruiting teacher’s, as he said that “the series of examination and processes employed by the new administration is good”.
He stressed further that Anambra Assembly should invite the honorable commissioner for education Prof Ngozi Chuma Udeh to explain why she disengaged the already employed teacher’s and also give details of the entire processes that she hope to embark in the current recruitment exercise.
Honorable Lawrence Ezeudu member representing Dunukofia constituency, supported the chairman house committee on basic education, honorable Ejike Okechukwu that the commissioner for education appear before Anambra Assembly plenary on the next sitting and state exactly the process of the recruitment exercise.
He opined that inviting the commissioner will help solve the issue of the disengagement of already employed teacher’s.
Honorable Nonso Smart Okafor member representing Nnewi North constituency in his support for the invitation of the honorable commissioner for education also pointed out that there are a lot of videos showcasing where people who went to take the recruitment exams are left stranded and a lot of stampede also occurred in some center’s.
He stressed that the commissioner will explain all this and also the reason behind the disengagement of already employed teacher’s.
Anambra State house of assembly through it speaker invites the commissioner for education Prof Ngozi Chuma Udeh to appear before the house on Thursday the 23rd day of June to explain the termination of the PTA teacher’s employed by the former administration and also explain to the honorable house the entire process of the current teachers recruitment exercise.
Meanwhile honorable Johnbosco Akaegbobi member representing Nnewi South constituency call’s on the governor of Anambra State professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to direct relevant agencies to intervene on Nnewi – Ukpor road.
He lamented that last week Friday a gully erosion cuts off the only access road leading Ukpor to Nnewi. He cried that a car owned by a nearby pure water factory fell into the dreadful pit.
Honorable Nonso Smart Okafor member representing Nnewi North constituency seconded the motion of urgent public importance raised by honorable Johnbosco Akaegbobi on the collapse Nnewi – Ukpor road.
Honorable Smart Okafor lamented that there are a lot of factory and business activities going on around the area and this cut off road hits them the most.
Anambra Assembly resolved that the governor Prof Charles Soludo should call on all the agencies concerned to intervene on the Nnewi – Ukpor cut off road.
