Anambra Assembly Summons Former Chairman Of Iron Dealers Union Market, Ogbaru

Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce, Trade, and Industry has summoned the former Chairman of Iron Dealers Union Market, Atani Road, Ogbaru, Mr. Nnaemeka Onuzuluike, to appear before the Committee on Monday, 12th August 2024 at 11 am, to clarify alleged issues regarding the purchase and development of the Iron Dealers’ new site market and other related matters.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Committee Chairman and Member representing Oyi Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ojike issued the summons while addressing the executive members of the market.

Hon. Ojike noted that despite being invited on multiple occasions by the Committee, Mr. Onuzuluike has failed to appear without providing any reason for his absence.

The lawmaker emphasized that pursuant to Section 103 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, Anambra State House of Assembly constituted the House Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry. Sections 128 and 129 of the Constitution empower this committee to invite or summon any individual or organization for the purpose of investigation concerning activities within markets and industries.

Hon. Ojike requested Mr. Onuzuluike to provide the committee with relevant documents to support his submissions and assist the committee in its assignment.

On his part, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency One, Hon. Noble Igwe expressed concern over Mr. Onuzuluike’s neglect and noted that the Committee was established to ensure public funds and activities align with the governor’s vision for the state and warned that failure to appear before the Committee could result in drastic actions.
