Anambra Govt Meets With Private Medical Practitioners, Reviews Health Care Service Delivery

The Anambra State Government has held a one day engagement meeting with the Association of Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter with a call for synergistic collaborations to enhance service delivery in the health sector of the state.

The meeting which was held in Awka attracted members of the association from parts of the state.

Addressing the participants, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike represented by the Director of Medical Services in the Ministry, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu
said the meeting was to review the state of the health care service delivery including on quality and coverage.

Obidike told the participants that the that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is determined to work with them to improve the state’s health sector, as they take up to 70% of health care delivery in the state.

The Commissioner, however, frowned at the attitude of some practitioners who show lackadaisical attitude towards registration and renewal of their licenses and said that the meeting will afford them the opportunity to cross-fertilize ideas in order to resolve the issue, among so many others.

The Anambra state Chairman, Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners, Dr. Sylvia Ezievuo, expressed delight over the meeting which he revealed that such had not been held for about three years now and promised that the association is ready to work with the state government to improve the state health care system.

The Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association, Anambra state chapter, Dr. Jane Ezeonu, represented by the Secretary of the association, Dr. Frank Ifeaneme, appreciated the state government for providing an enabling environment for the interaction and hoped that the meeting with help to bring out pragmatic policies would be mutually beneficial to them for the betterment of the citizenry who seek medical services in Anambra.
