Anambra State House of Assembly has urge Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct Commissioner for Education and that of Health and all MDA’s to pay special attention by considering those living with disabilities who are qualified for employment in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
Angel Network News reports that the resolution was made through a motion sponsored by the member representing Nnewi North constituency Hon. Augustine Ike.

Leading the debate, Hon. Ike stated that the ministry of Health and Education is currently concluding a transparent exercise to recruit more Anambrarians into the aboved mentioned ministries.
” Anambra State Government has made it stand clear that recruitment especially in Health and Education sector is going to be conducted fully based on merit and competence;
” The Physically Challenged who have meet the criteria and have worked had to acquire education may not have a voice to protect their interest given the current realities on ground;
“The Physically Challenged and those with are discriminated against by most private sectors and can only be fully recognised by government establishments;
“The consideration of the Physically Challenged for employment will restore the confidence of those living with disabilities in the government of Anambra State and challenge other citizens to give them equal opportunities and reduce poverty.
“Sometimes, people don’t have equal opportunities in life. It will be unfair to use universal criteria.
” Anambra state government should pay special attention to those living with disability during recruitment. They should be given a statutory place. Psychologist have comfirm that the physical challenge persons are intelligent.
Supporting the motion, Deputy Majority Leader Hon. Jude Akpua (Njikoka two), Hon. Nobel Igwe (Ogbaru one), Hon. Golden Iloh (Ihiala two), Hon. Emma Nwafor (Orumba South) and Hon. Nigeria Mbachu (Awka South one) all spoke in favour of the motion.
