Anambra: Nimo Community Sensitized On Waste Management

The leadership of Nimo community (NTDU) in Njikoka Local Government Area has been sensitized on the importance of adopting a zero-waste lifestyle in compliance with the visions of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and public health.

The sensitization exercise as directed by
the Chairman of Njikoka local government area Barr Chinedu Ononiba, carried out by the council officials led by Supervisor for Environment; Hon. Izuchukwu Ugokwe, Head of Waste Management Agency Njikoka LGA; Mr.Tochi Ilodiuba and environmental stakeholders, focused on proper waste segregation and the reduction of indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

Community members were educated on how zero-waste practices can help curb pollution, prevent flooding, and create a cleaner and healthier environment.

Speaking during the exercise, officials emphasized that the Governor’s directive is part of a broader commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development across the state.

The leadership of Nimo Town Development Union and Residents in general were urged to take personal responsibility for waste management and to support Soludo’s government efforts by adhering strictly to approved waste disposal guidelines.

The Acting President General of Nimo Development Union (NTDU) Comr. Mmagu Chekwubechukwu on behalf of Nimo people commended the initiative and pledged their support in mobilizing residents to comply with the zero-waste policy.

the exercise concluded with a call for continuous awareness campaigns and community participation to ensure the long-term success of the initiative.
