Anambra South Senatorial Re-run: Emecheta, Orajiaka Moves To Replace Ubah

The immediate past Managing Director of the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Dr. Jude Emecheta, has declared his intention to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in the Senate

Dr. Emecheta while speaking to journalists in Awka on Thursday, describing himself as the most qualified for the role.

He announced his bid to represent Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, vowing to prioritize security in collaboration with the state government.

“I am the best person to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. I have carefully assessed the profiles of other aspirants, and while I respect their qualifications, none of them is prioritizing security or the development of our district. Governor Soludo’s vision for Anambra cannot be achieved without security,” he said.

Emecheta emphasized that insecurity remains the biggest challenge in Anambra South, deterring wealthy indigenes from returning home to invest.

According to him, most crimes in the state are cross-border, and tackling these issues will be his foremost priority if elected.

“How can you represent people who are not secure? Without security, our people cannot thrive. If elected, I will work to ensure that Anambra South is safe and conducive for economic growth,” he added.

The former agency boss criticized other aspirants for focusing on securing constituency projects and distributing handouts such as rice, yams, and motorcycles. He argued that such measures are unsustainable and fail to address the district’s long-term needs.

“Handouts will not solve our problems. If we secure Anambra South, our wealthy sons and daughters can come home to establish factories and create jobs. My mission is to protect my people and secure our future,” Emecheta explained.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Paul Orajiaka, a senatorial aspirant for Anambra South Senatorial District on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), has expressed his determination to address the insecurity situation in his constituency if elected into the National Assembly.

Orajiaka, who spoke to journalists in Awka on Thursday, stated that the greater bulk of insecurity in Anambra State is domiciled in his constituency.

He emphasized that his decision to aspire for the senate seat is driven by his desire to use the platform to make policy laws that would positively impact the security situation in his constituency.

A successful businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Auldon Group, Orajiaka assured that his entrance into the senate would add to the number of good people in the red chamber who would work to change the perceived rubber-stamp stature of the National Assembly.

Orajiaka outlined his plans for Anambra South, acronymned SHEEER, which stands for Security, Health, Electricity, Employment, Education, and Road.

He also promised to revisit some of the bills initiated by the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and fine-tune them for the benefit of the area.

Speaking on the leadership of the party, Orajiaka stated that Labour Party members, being law-abiding citizens, have accepted the leadership of Julius Abure, following a court judgment that declared him the authentic national chairman of the party.

Orajiaka also commended the national leader of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, who was the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.

He appealed for a level playing ground in the party’s primary election for the nomination of its candidate for Anambra Senatorial District, which is expected to take place soon.

A highly educated and accomplished individual, Orajiaka holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and an Executive Masters in Business Administration from Lagos Business School, amongst others.

He has also received recognition from reputable international media houses, including Forbes Magazine, BBC, VOA, and CNBC.
