Anambra Speaker Visits IDP Camps, Promises Flood Victims Succour

 

Anambra State house of assembly speaker Rt. Hon. Okafor has visited flood victims at various IDP camps at Omor, Igbakwu, and Ifite-Ogwari communities.

Rt. Jon. Okafor who provided them with some financial assistance regretted the situation the flood has plunged the victims and assured them of his intervention through personal support and by reaching out to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and its state counterpart, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in ensuring that basic amenities and relief materials are made available for them. 

Most of the IDP occupants are indigenes of Aguleri-Otu of Anambra East LGA who migrated to various camps in the Ayamelum constituency for safety. 

Speaking to newsmen, one of the leaders of the victims who spoke on anonymity, solicited that interventions should be monitored to ensure that they get to the leadership of the camps directly for judicious distribution. They lauded Rt. Hon. Okafor for defiling all odds in visiting them, praying to God to replenish him richly for his selfless sacrifice.

Rt. Hon. Okafor was accompanied by the TC Chairman of Ayamelum LGA., Hon. Livinus Onyenwe as well as other stakeholders in the area.
