The Anambra State Government has finalised its 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the health sector, setting a coordinated framework for delivering healthcare services, strengthening accountability and improving health outcomes across the state.
The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) participated in the development, harmonization and one day dissemination of the plan, ensuring that critical HIV interventions receive attention in the state’s health priorities.
Key areas highlighted by the agency include HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care and support, as well as the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT).
The dissemination meeting brought together relevant stakeholders to review the final document, clarify implementation responsibilities and strengthen collaboration among government health institutions and development partners.
The 2027 AOP is aligned with the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) and the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp), which promote coordinated planning, budgeting, resource allocation and performance monitoring across the health sector.
Through its participation, ANSACA reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to translate the plan’s priorities into measurable health outcomes, strengthen HIV service delivery and advance the state’s efforts towards achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to the global goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of building a healthy, liveable and prosperous Anambra State.
The successful implementation of the plan is expected to strengthen the state’s health system and improve access to essential services, particularly for vulnerable populations and people living with HIV.
