ANSIEC Commends Oyi, Ayamelum LGAs For Adequate Preparation Ahead Of LG Election

The Chairman of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe
has commended Oyi and Ayamelum council areas for making adequate preparations ahead of the September 28 Local Government election in the state.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Magistrate Osakwe gave the commendation during the familiarization visit of the commission to the council headquarters in Nteje in Oyi council area of the state.

Briefing the stakeholders of the two council area, the ANSIEC boss revealed that the purpose of the visit was to ascertain the position of ANSIEC offices in all the local governments and to educate and sensitize stakeholders, political parties, religious bodies and community leaders, on the upcoming council election in the state so as to enable them mobilize and educate their followers and other residents.

Promising that the September 28 election in the state will be a pace setter for other states and one that country will emulate, Magistrate Osakwe who spoke through the Commissioner in-charge of Information and Publicity, Sir Anthony Nnalue urged the local government areas to provide all necessary requirements needed in the offices in order to have adequate security to protect the equipment that will be used in upcoming election.

Responding on behalf of the council areas, the Transition Committee Chairman for Ayamelum, Mr. Alphonsus Ofumelu and his Oyi counterpart, Mr Emmanuel Nweke and some stakeholders, Apostle Chijioke Ozoemena and Barr Ernest Okafor appreciated the commission for the visit and assured that the council areas are committed to electing a credible individuals to lead their councils and pleaded for early arrival of electoral materials and personnel on election day.
