The Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for approving the provision of new boats to support transportation in riverine communities across the state.
Speaking during an interactive meeting with boat drivers at the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka, Dr. Anyadiegwu listened to concerns and operational challenges affecting their work and announced that the governor had approved the donation of brand-new boats to improve access to basic education in waterline communities.
According to her, the initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that teachers and pupils in hard-to-reach areas have safe and reliable transportation.
“Mr. Governor is once again proving that education remains a top priority. These boats are coming to ease the burden of teachers and schoolchildren who travel by water to school every day.
“No child in Anambra will be denied quality education because of terrain. This is the Soludo Solution at work—practical governance that touches every corner of the state,” she said.
Responding on behalf of the boat drivers, Mr. John Nwambu from Anambra East Local Government Area, expressed appreciation to Governor Soludo for the intervention and pledged that the beneficiaries would make proper use of the boats.
He assured the government that the vessels would be well maintained and used strictly for the safe transportation of teachers and pupils.
Nwambu noted that the intervention demonstrates the governor’s commitment to addressing challenges confronting residents of riverine communities and ensuring that access to education is not hindered by geographical barriers.
He added that communities in waterline areas are already experiencing the benefits of responsive governance through projects and policies aimed at improving their quality of life.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the planned distribution of the new boats is expected to enhance school attendance, ease transportation challenges, and further strengthen educational delivery in riverine parts of Anambra State.
