The brothers of late “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman have petitioned a court to remove his widow as administrator of his estate, alleging mismanagement and lack of transparency.
Derrick and Kevin Boseman filed the petition on behalf of their parents in a Los Angeles court, seeking to compel Taylor Simone Ledward to share estate proceeds and arguing she “cannot be trusted with the continued administration of the estate.”
Boseman died in 2020 at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, leaving no will. His assets were valued at $3.8 million at the time. A court appointed Ledward administrator and ruled she would receive 50 percent of the assets, with 25 percent each going to Boseman’s parents.
The brothers claim Ledward has “still not distributed the estate” and has failed to provide information about deals involving the company managing the actor’s image and rights. They allege her “unilateral control” and “misconduct is causing ongoing harm” to the parents, “depriving them of financial assets at a vulnerable age when such support is most critical.”
“Moreover, the needless continuation of these proceedings denies Decedent’s family closure and causes emotional distress,” the filing states. “Imagine flipping through the channels and stumbling on a film starring your deceased son or brother, knowing that someone you do not know or trust is profiting from his image without your input or consent.”
Ledward, a former R&B singer, began dating Boseman in 2015 and married him six days before his death in August 2020.
