Reality television star Phyna, winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, is mourning the death of her sister, Ruth Otabor, who passed away on Sunday morning, the family confirmed.
The family announced the tragedy in a statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, noting that Ruth died at approximately 6:30 a.m. on August 31.
The statement described her as a cherished daughter, sister, and mother, and appealed for privacy as the family grieves. Funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time.
Ruth had suffered a severe accident on August 13, just six days after graduating from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. Eyewitnesses reported that a heavy-duty truck associated with the Dangote Group struck her near the institution, resulting in catastrophic leg injuries that necessitated amputation.
The sudden loss has left her family, friends, and fans deeply shaken, marking a tragic moment in Phyna’s personal life amid her rising public profile.
