Carter Efe Dethrones Portable As Celebrity Boxing King, As Street Artiste Cries Foul

Comedian and streamer Carter Efe has dethroned Habeeb ‘Portable’ Badmus as Nigeria’s celebrity boxing champion, outclassing the ZaZoo singer across three dominant rounds at the high-octane Chaos in the Ring 4 event in Lagos — only for Portable to erupt in fury moments after the final bell, insisting he was robbed.

Three Rounds, No Doubt

The bout took place at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday night. All three judges scored the contest 27-30 in favour of Efe, delivering a unanimous decision that stripped Portable of his status as celebrity boxing king.

In the opening round, Portable came out aggressively, throwing wild, erratic punches in his trademark style, but the taller Efe absorbed the pressure and countered with crisp uppercuts and body punches that troubled the singer’s smaller frame. Portable’s approach did not change in the second round — continuing to throw wide shots and clinch repeatedly — but Efe grew sharper, landing more solid combinations. The third round followed a similar pattern, with Efe consistently finding his mark before the final bell.

Bragging Rights Reversed

The result was a stunning reversal of the pre-fight narrative, in which Portable had arrived at the venue radiating swagger and certainty. The singer had previously beaten Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington in celebrity bouts to claim two belts, and made no secret of his intention to collect a third at Efe’s expense.

“I will use you to collect my third belt. Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you, and I beat them. I will beat you now,” Portable had warned his opponent ahead of the fight.

Efe was unmoved. “One punch and you fall,” he shot back — and then proceeded to back it up across three rounds.

E-Money Makes Good on N50m Promise

Lagos socialite and businessman Emeka ‘E-Money’ Okonkwo confirmed he would honour his pre-fight pledge of N50 million to Carter Efe following the victory, reaffirming his commitment when Balmoral Group Promotions CEO Ezekiel Adamu put the question to him at the end of the night. “You know we put our money where our mouth is — congratulations, Carter, on your win. N50 million for you,” E-Money declared.

Adamu, for his part, declared the event a success. “We promised Chaos in the Ring and we have delivered very entertaining fights tonight,” he said.

Portable: “I Was Robbed”

The jubilation in Efe’s corner was matched in intensity only by the outrage from Portable’s camp. Taking to Instagram Live shortly after the result, the singer unleashed a torrent of accusations against the organisers, his opponent, and the judges.

“I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches — why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw at him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand. They did ojoro for me. All of you are mad. Carter Efe was just holding my neck,” Portable raged.

He also turned his fury on the organisers over alleged unpaid streaming fees: “I want my stream money amounting to about N200 million. Just give me my money before I cause trouble.” (Instagram)

In a notable twist, Portable also used the occasion to announce a personal milestone, offering it as consolation for the lost belt. “My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt but not my child,” he said.
