The National Industrial Court has nullified the retirement of late Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Moses Ambakina Jitoboh.
The court also reinstated him, as a former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Prof Chidi Odinkalu, revealed in a post on his X on Monday.
The demise of Jitoboh, former aide-de-camp to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was reported on December 28, 2025 at the age of 54 years after a brief illness.
The cause of his death hasn’t been revealed as a source confirmed that efforts are “currently ongoing to carry out an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.”
However, Odinkalu in a post on X on Monday, stated that Jitoboh was the most senior officer in the Nigeria Police when he was prematurely retired in 2023 to pave way for the appointment of the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He regretted that despite the fact the Jibotoh sued against the illegal termination of his job, judgement was due last month, but it wasn’t ready and two weeks after he died, implying frustration in Nigeria justice system.

However, many Nigerian tweeps have expressed indignation, with @AppTayo stating: “In this oppressive system, everyone is a victim. The best bet for all is for all to resist oppression”
