Music producer and executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has said he deliberately avoids complaining about the negative sides of fame because he fears God might withdraw the blessings he has received.
The Mavins Records founder made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Keeping It Real With Jima podcast.
“I like everything that God gave me. Obviously, there are some times that you just wish that some things were different. But I’m not wishing for anything different, I’m just saying before God will now decide to adjust my life,” Don Jazzy stated, laughing as he spoke.
He explained that while he occasionally wishes certain aspects of his public life could change, he is careful not to voice complaints or “moan” about fame’s downsides. The producer believes such ungrateful utterances could prompt divine intervention to alter his circumstances.
Don Jazzy emphasised his deep sense of gratitude for the success and platform fame has brought him over the years. He noted that he remains mindful of how he expresses himself, choosing instead to focus on the positive impact his position allows him to make.
The entertainment executive also touched on his financial situation, expressing a light-hearted desire to be richer in his next life so he could touch more lives, while acknowledging current limitations.
His comments have resonated with many fans and fellow celebrities who often grapple with the pressures and intrusions that accompany public success in Nigeria’s vibrant entertainment industry.
Don Jazzy, who has shaped the careers of several major artists through Mavins Records, has long been known for his calm demeanour and business acumen. He rarely engages in public controversies and is frequently praised for maintaining a relatively private personal life despite his high profile.
No further elaboration on specific “downsides” of fame was provided in the podcast excerpt.
