Eid El-Kabir: FRSC Deploys 210 Personnel For Safer Roads In Anambra

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has commenced its 2026 Eid El-Kabir Special Patrol Operations across Anambra state, deploying over 210 personnel.

The deployed personnel comprises Regular and Special Marshals, to ensure safer roads, seamless traffic flow, and prompt emergency response during the festive period.

In a press statement by SRC. Margaret Onabe, Sector Public Education Officer,
FRSC Anambra State Command, the special patrol operation, which began on May 25 and will run through May 31, 2026 and forms part of the Corps’ annual strategic intervention aimed at promoting road safety and managing the anticipated increase in vehicular movement associated with the Eid El-Kabir celebrations.

“The operation is designed to enhance public enlightenment, reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries, ensure traffic decongestion, facilitate immediate clearance of road obstructions, enforce traffic regulations, and effectively respond to emergencies on highways throughout the state.

“To guarantee efficient service delivery during the exercise, the Command has fully mobilized operational equipment and logistics, including patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, motorcycles, radar guns, breathalyzers, and other traffic management resources.

“Special attention has also been given to traffic control at the Bridge Head, Onitsha, and other strategic routes across the state”.

Speaking on the operation, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Bridget Asekhanuo, stated that the special patrol would focus on critical traffic offences that contribute significantly to road crashes.

These include excessive speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, operation of mechanically deficient vehicles, use of expired or worn-out tyres, passenger manifest violations, and other traffic-related offences.

Asekhanuo further disclosed that, to strengthen enforcement and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, mobile courts would be deployed for the speedy prosecution of traffic offenders.

In addition, all emergency response and rescue teams have been placed on maximum alert to ensure prompt intervention whenever necessary.

The Sector Commander also noted that the Command will work in close collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency, and the Ocha Brigade to enhance traffic management, security, and emergency response throughout the festive period.

She urged motorists, passengers, and other road users to cooperate with traffic management agencies by obeying all traffic rules and regulations, avoiding risky driving behaviours, and prioritizing safety throughout the celebrations.

The FRSC Anambra Sector Command, while wishing all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid El-Kabir celebration, reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring safer roads for all.
