# Former Minister for Aviation Senator Stella Odua has emerged as the Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra North District.
The Former Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu an aspirant in the said election urged his supporters to remain loyal to the party despite the outcome of the process.
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Mazi Ejimofor Opara has confirmed the emergence of Sen Odua.
According to Oparah the election was conducted peacefully across all 99 wards in Anambra North Senatorial District, and results were announced at the ward level.
He said concerns were raised about some ward outcomes, but no result was changed, altered, or swapped at any stage.
Opera said all results remain as submitted and collated by the duly appointed Collation Officers for the 7 LGAs.

# An aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the ticket of Aguata federal constituency for the House of Representatives, Mr Afamefuna Ezenwafor has insisted that he was unjustly rigged out of the partyās primary election held on Saturday.
In a press statement he shared to his supporters, he thanked them for standing firm with him, despite the brazen intimidation he witnessed from his opponents.
“Though the victory we worked so hard for in the House of Representatives primary was unjustly taken away, no one can ever steal our joy, silence our voices, destroy our hope, or break the bond of trust, love, and goodwill we have built together as one family. The strength of a people united by sincerity and conviction can never be defeated”. Ezenwafor stated.
# The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has commenced its 2026 Eid El-Kabir Special Patrol Operations across Anambra state, deploying over 210 personnel.
The deployed personnel comprises Regular and Special Marshals, to ensure safer roads, seamless traffic flow, and prompt emergency response during the festive period.
In a press statement by SRC. Margaret Onabe, Sector Public Education Officer,
FRSC Anambra State Command, the special patrol operation, which began on May 25 and will run through May 31, 2026 and forms part of the Corps’ annual strategic intervention aimed at promoting road safety and managing the anticipated increase in vehicular movement associated with the Eid El-Kabir celebrations.
Speaking on the operation, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Bridget Asekhanuo, stated that the special patrol would focus on critical traffic offences that contribute significantly to road crashes.
These include excessive speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, operation of mechanically deficient vehicles, use of expired or worn-out tyres, passenger manifest violations, and other traffic-related offences.
Asekhanuo further disclosed that, to strengthen enforcement and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, mobile courts would be deployed for the speedy prosecution of traffic offenders.
# Former Nigerian Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has won the presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State. The partyās presidential primary election held in Anambra State on Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, saw the former Vice President polling a total of 58, 566 votes, which is the highest votes recorded among the three presidential contestants in the party.
According to the Anambra State Chairman of the ADC presidential primary election committee, Hon. Nduaka Nwolisa, āThe presidential primary election was held peacefully in Anambra State, and it was well contested among three contestants.ā
Hon. Nwolisa further noted that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi scored a total of 17, 085 votes, while the third presidential candidate of the ADC, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen, secured 7, 861 votes.
ADC membership register in Anambra State has a total of 99, 349 votes, but only 83, 512 votes were cast during the presidential primary election in Anambra State, Mr. Nwolisa said.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was then declared the winner in the presence of the eleven-member presidential primary election committee of the ADC in Anambra State. āAlhaji Atiku Abubakar, having recorded the highest number of votes with 58, 566 votes, is hereby declared the winner in Anambra State ADC presidential primaryā, Mr. Nwolisa concluded.
# The newly appointed Commissioner for Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs in Anambra State, has officially resumed office amid a warm reception from the Supervisory Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, , and members of staff.
During the reception held at the Ministry, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo welcomed the Commissioner and assured him of the staffās full support and collaboration towards achieving the mandate given to him by the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
In his remarks, Barr. Vincent Ezeaka expressed readiness to discharge his duties diligently and efficiently in line with the vision of the Soludo administration. He emphasized the need for commitment, discipline, and productivity among staff members, warning against laxity and negligence to duty.

# Anambra Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) acting on credible information arrested 17 (seventeen) male suspects allegedly linked to cult-related activities and other acts considered contrary to public morality at an identified hideout in Awka in the early hours of Sunday.
Items recovered from the suspects include some dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, containers of petroleum jelly, condoms, and other exhibits considered relevant to the ongoing investigation.

Anambra State Command, preliminary interrogation of the suspects allegedly revealed their affiliation with the Vikings Confraternity, also known as āBaggerā.
The investigation is also extending to allegations of unlawful and immoral activities reportedly carried out at the location.
Reacting, Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu, reiterates that cultism, drug abuse, and all forms of criminality or acts capable of undermining public peace and societal values will not be tolerated in the State.
The Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the matter to ascertain the extent of the involvement of the suspects in cult-related activities and other possible criminal offences.
# The Mayor of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Chibueze Offorbuike has reaffirmed the councilās commitment to education with the commissioning of the Igbo-Ukwu Community Library, describing education as the foundation for growth and development in society.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Offorbuike said education remains ālife and lightā in Aguata, stressing that investments in the education of young people are invaluable and essential for societal progress.
He explained that the decision to establish the library was informed by the large number of schools within the area, noting that the facility would provide students with a productive learning environment, especially during holidays.
According to him, the library will help reduce idleness and social vices among children while encouraging a stronger reading culture in the community.
The Mayor expressed optimism that the project would serve as a model for other communities and inspire greater government investment in community libraries across the state.

The peaceful protesters called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to intervene and rescue them from the alleged ordeals they have been passing through from the Ajakpani Village chairman, Sunday Udebunu.
The landlords were carrying placards with descriptions like, Sunday Udebunu leave us alone, Owoh stop using thugs on us, Owoh Festac Villa Housing Estate is not located at Ajakpani land, Sunday Udebunu Stop Extortion and scaring away Estate developers and workers, Say no to imposition of illegal levies, Owoh we did not buy land from Ajakpani Village, Sunday Udebunu stop attacking Estate Landlords, Owoh stop molesting and harassing our workers with your thugs, Oluatuegwu come to our rescue.
Addressing newsmen, the Chairman of the Estate Landlords in Umunya, Chief Stephen Oforleh alleged that the protest follows the illegal collection of levies, the flogging of workers with machetes and guns by thugs allegedly sent by Sunday Udebunu, a Chairman of another village saying that the incessant harassments resulted to desertion of artisans working at various sites at the Estates.
