FRSC Intensifies Road Safety Advocacy in Anambra Motor Parks, Markets, Radio
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has intensified its road safety advocacy across Eke and Amawbia markets, motor parks and radio platforms as part of efforts to promote safer road use and reduce road traffic crashes during the 2026 Ember Months period.
The advocacy team, led by the Sector Commander, Anambra State Sector Command, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, engaged commercial drivers, transport operators, traders, passengers and other road users on the need to obey traffic rules and regulations.
The team cautioned road users against speeding, dangerous overtaking, route violations, distracted driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
At Eke and Amawbia markets, members of the market executives were sensitized on safe road use, the importance of using designated pedestrian crossings, avoiding roadside trading and indiscriminate parking, as well as exercising caution around busy roads.
The team also visited Rivers Joy Park, Royal Mass, Star Sunny Park, Peace Park, Capital Motor Parks and TRACAS, where drivers and transport stakeholders were advised to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
Particular emphasis was placed on the regular inspection of brakes, tyres, lights, wipers and other critical vehicle components to ensure that vehicles are in good condition.
The Sector Commander also led the Command’s public enlightenment efforts through a live audience-participation programme on Kpakpandu 101.9 FM, Mbaukwu.
During the programme, Asekhauno explained the functions and statutory responsibilities of the FRSC, including road traffic management, traffic law enforcement, public enlightenment, rescue operations and efforts to reduce road traffic crashes.
She urged all road users to exercise caution, maintain lane discipline, avoid distractions and prioritize the safety of passengers and other road users.
The Sector Commander also called on members of the public to support the Corps’ efforts to create a safer motoring environment in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
The programme, hosted by Mr. Franklin, featured an interactive call-in session during which listeners sought clarification on various road safety issues. Asekhauno provided practical guidance while reinforcing the need for collective responsibility in preventing road traffic crashes and saving lives.
The Anambra State Sector Command said it remains committed to continuous stakeholder engagement, public enlightenment and proactive interventions in line with the mandate of the FRSC and its 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal of reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries.
