The first lady of Anambra state Mrs Nonye Soludo has described Miss Kamsiyochukwu Umeh, the Anambra-born top scorer in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, as a perfect picture of Anambra’s revered excellence.

Mrs Soludo made this known in a statement released in Awka to celebrate the teenager who hails from Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area.

Speaking on the feat which has already earned the teenage star a full-time scholarship to study any course at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, courtesy of Anambra State government, Mrs Soludo said she has represented excellence where and when it mattered and deserves to be celebrated.

She explained that the teenage school girl bears the true mark of Anambra’s unique brand, and has shown that investment in education for every child, remains a key factor for human and societal development.

Mrs Soludo further commended the continuous development of girl child education, noting that her husband’s administration takes notice of the importance of education in that regard and is investing heavily in the sector.

On the events that preceded the confirmation of Miss Umeh as JAMB highest scorer, the governor’s wife urged parents to always pay close attention to behavioural patterns and peer habits of their children, and to consistently teach them the values of honesty, truth and contentment.

The Anambra first lady while suggesting closer monitoring and orientation for school children on the damage of exam malpractice and profiteering, assured that government will continue to reward hard work and excellence.
