The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has congratulated Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi on his re-election as Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (AnSFA) for a second term.
Gusau conveyed his congratulatory message to Iloenyosi via telephone on Tuesday, praising his unopposed return and the overwhelming confidence reposed in him by members of the Anambra football family.
“Your unopposed return reflects the trust the football family in Anambra has in your leadership. I am confident you will consolidate on the gains of your first tenure and take football in the state to greater heights,” Gusau said.
The NFF President also assured the AnSFA Chairman of the federation’s continued partnership in promoting grassroots football development, youth football, coach education, and sports infrastructure in Anambra State.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, popularly known as “General,” was returned unopposed during the Anambra State Football Association Elective Congress held on Tuesday at the East End Hotel, Awka.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Barr. Darlington Okeke, declared Iloenyosi elected after he secured all 23 votes cast by delegates.
In his acceptance speech, Iloenyosi expressed gratitude to members of the association for renewing their confidence in his leadership. He pledged to work closely with the Anambra State Government and sports journalists to ensure football maintains its status as the leading sport in the state.
The NFF representative at the election, Alhaji Mohammed Ameenu, described the electoral process as “free, fair and transparent,” noting that Iloenyosi’s unopposed re-election demonstrated the widespread support he enjoys among stakeholders.
Also elected were Chief Johnson Ifejika as Vice Chairman, while veteran sports journalist Ralph-Chidozie George was re-elected as a Board Member alongside Obi Moneke, representing Anambra Central.
Representing Anambra North are Emmanuel Okeke, Nnamdi Igbokwe and Vice Chairman Johnson Ifejika, while Ezeokafor Donatus, Mbaezue Michael and retired FIFA referee, Pastor Ijeoma Nwosu, will represent Anambra South on the board.
ANN recalls that Iloenyosi’s board was originally elected in October 2020 but effectively assumed office in July 2022 after the NFF upheld his petition and directed him to take over the administration of the association.
