Nigerian Judiciary Becoming Coffin of Democracy: Shehu Sani

A former Senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that the Nigerian judiciary was fast becoming “the coffin of democracy”.

Mr Sani stated this while reacting to the Court of Appeal judgement which sacked Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau and declared Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the winner of the March 18 governorship election.

Recall that a three-member panel of the appellate court had in a unanimous decision on Sunday ruled that Mr Muftwang was not validly sponsored by the PDP as provided by Section 285 [2] of the Nigerian Constitution.

The court, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Mr Muftwang and give the same to Mr Yilwatda.
