The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Anambra State, has successfully conducted its First Quarter 2026 Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) at the Pat Angelina Anyaegbu Memorial Hospital, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area.
The outreach, held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, was organized in collaboration with the hospital and benefited about 120 indigent residents of Amichi, including the elderly, women, youths, and children.
Flagging off the programme, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, declared the event open and expressed appreciation to the Amichi community for providing the platform to positively impact lives through the HIRD initiative.
Representing the Chairman of Nnewi South LGA, Hon. Uche Ochuba, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Anameme, commended the NYSC for bringing the free medical outreach to Amichi. He noted that the initiative would significantly improve access to healthcare for residents across the local government area.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Chukwudalu Orji, expressed satisfaction with the partnership between the NYSC and the hospital, stating that it was instrumental in the successful execution of the programme.
The Chairman’s representative also welcomed the State Coordinator and appreciated the NYSC for extending the laudable initiative to the people of the community.

the outreach featured free medical consultations, distribution of drugs, and laboratory tests, including HIV and Hepatitis screenings, aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of rural dwellers.
