Obidients Movement have released a new Hausa-language Afro campaign song titled “Lokaci” to build momentum for his anticipated 2027 presidential bid.
The track, meaning “this is the time” or “it is time,” was performed by Katsina-born artist Mr DapBoy and unveiled virtually on the social media platform X on Thursday. It was produced by Dr Yunusa Tanko, national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, who also goes by the alias DJ Funky G (80ties).
In a statement posted on his social media page on Saturday, Tanko described the release as “our latest single remix album titled Lokachi (Time), sung by Mr DapBoy, a Katsina State-born artist, for the love of HE PO.”
He added: “Peace and love PO all the way. Arise and shine, a new Nigeria is POssible.”
Tanko explained that the song carries a unifying message aimed at integrating the South East into Nigeria’s political mainstream and addressing lingering distrust linked to the Civil War. “It is a unifying message. We’ve held down the South East for too long. It is their time to be integrated into the political landscape and allowed to demonstrate their capabilities,” he said.
“And it is something that all of us will benefit from… this is the best time to reunite this country with a Southern presidency, especially from South East extraction, who has the capacity, competence and character to lead this country.”
He further highlighted shifting attitudes among younger Northerners. “The inspiration behind it is that the younger generation of Northern youths are detaching themselves from the shackles of this particular ‘follow-follow’ people. They now have a mind of their own and want to determine their future,” Tanko stated.
The song has drawn largely positive reactions from Obidient supporters online, with many praising its rhythm even when they do not understand Hausa. Peter Obi himself reportedly expressed appreciation for the track.
Tanko dismissed suggestions that “Lokaci” mirrors any existing political slogan, insisting it is purely a call for national unity and a fresh start.
The release follows the 2023 campaign song “ELUUPEE” and underscores the Obidient Movement’s continued grassroots mobilisation efforts more than a year ahead of the next general elections.
