Obijackson Foundation flag-off ‘Keep Okija Clean’ Initiative, Employ Workers

The Obijackson Foundation, in collaboration with the Okija Bu Enyi Brothers Assembly, has launched the Keep Okija Clean initiative.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the program, officially unveiled at St. Mary’s School Field, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, aims to improve sanitation, waste management, and environmental awareness in the community.

Speaking at the launch, Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu who spoke highly of the project, said with the launch of Keep Okija Clean, Okija has taken the lead in environmental sanitation.

Engr. Odimegwu emphasized that the Public–Private–Community Partnership (PPCP) model of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration continues to yield positive results, praising the Obijackson Group for prioritizing health and cleanliness.

Dr. Odimegwu stated that this is the PPCP the Soludo-led government preaches about as this will not only maintain Environmental Sustainability but will also complement the transformative infrastructural development going across the state

Furthermore, Odimegwu expressed that The “Keep Okija Clean” initiative aligns with Anambra State Ministry of Environment mission to promote a cleaner and healthier environment in the State. He added that by collaborating with stakeholders and engaging the local community, waste will be managed effectively

In his remark, the Founder of the Obijackson Group, Chief Ernest Obiejesi,
took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts towards ensuring the sustainability of the state and its people.

Obiejesi also appreciated the Commissioner for Environment and the
Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority for their presence at the event, acknowledging their support and commitment to the initiative.

In his address, the President of Okija Bu Enyi Brothers Assembly, Chief Chinedu Ononuju, described the initiative as a call to action for ndi Anambra highlighting that a clean environment aligns with the vision of a healthy and livable Anambra as championed by the state government.

Ononuju urged community members to dispose of waste properly using designated bins that will be placed at strategic locations and to adhere strictly to environmental regulations.

On his part, Managing Director of Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), Sir. Mike Ozoemena said this move not only contributes to the environmental sustainability of Okija but also provides employment opportunities for the local community.

The event witnessed the deployment of essential equipment, including two compactors trucks, one bus, one pickup and other equipments, to facilitate good and timely Environmental practice and cleanliness

In addition to providing equipment, the initiative has employed approximately 100 individuals to assist in cleaning the town. And promised to continue supporting the initiative.
