Youth Wing under the leadership of Hon. Chidike Okwaji has mark its one year in office with a summit.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the event held at the egwegwe Square in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State on Monday October 28, 2024 had series of lectures.
NTDU Youth Leader Hon. Chidike Okwaji in his opening remark thanked God for the grace obtained in the past one year of his administration.
Hon. Okwaji appreciated the members of his executive for their zeal, passion, dedication and commitment, urging all to join hands and move Nimo Community farward.
The Youth leader revealed that the summit will be annually, urging all those in attendance to put into practice the knowledge and enlightenment gained from the lectures received.
An investigative Journalist Dr. Ifeanyi Obiefuna while speaking on “Community leadership roles of the youths”, maintained that advocacy, volunteering and innovations are vital for development.
Dr. Obiefuna who is also the Chief Editor of Angel Network News (ANN) stated that
young leaders as voices for change should contribute to local projects by bringing up fresh ideas that will solve community issues.
“Community leadership is the ability to inspire, guide, and mobilize individuals within a community towards achieving shared goals and addressing collective challenges.
“It involves fostering collaboration, encouraging participation, and promoting the well-being of the community through effective communication, vision-setting, and advocacy.
“Community leaders often serve as role models, facilitators, and problem-solvers, working to empower others and build strong, resilient communities.
” Skills developed through leadership are; communication by engaging diverse groups.
“Collaboration, teamwork with various stakeholders and critical thinking, problem solving in real world contexts.
Speaking on barries to youth leadership, Obiefuna outlined lack of opportunities, stereotypes and resource constraints. He called for education and training, mentorship and community engagement as strategies to empower youth leadership.
In his lecture on social vices and cyber crime, its effect on youths, Rev. Fr. Johnmark Okafor said in order to create value systems, the youths has to go back to their roots by understanding the culture, having consensus on issues and reading the signs of time.
Fr. Okafor urged Nimo youths to be focused in improving their lives for the betterment of their society. He warned young minds on the consequences of cyber crime, calling on all to channel their talents, potentials and energy positively.
Health specialist Mrs. Chisom Atakulu, while speaking on the dangers of drugs abuse and its side effect outlined the consequences. She emphasized on the need for healthy living.
“Curiosity, expirement, influence of peer groups, environmental condition, promotion and availability, enjoyment, lack of parental supervision, social economic status of parents are all
causes of drugs abuse which leads to demage of body system”. she said.
An elder statesman Mr. Michael Nwanaje
and Mr. Akpuogwu Ejioforakpu in their separate lectures spoke extensively on the history of Nimo Community and its
culture and tradition of Nimo
A philosopher, Comrade. Chibuike Ifezue who spoke on human potentials and capitalization, advised the youths to strive in learning more.

He defined human potentials as the capacity and capability an individual possess within, stating that constant search for knowledge will help develop ones ability
