* The fourteen newly elected wards Councilors in Dunukofia LGA have been
sworn-in on as the 4th Congress of Councilors in the Local Government Council.
These Councillors comprising thirteen (13) males and a female were sworn-in by the Dunukofia Mayor, Barr. Chijioke C. Ozumba with the Deputy Mayor, Mrs. Lilian Chinweze, the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Ide Uchenna Malobi in attendance, including the Chief Magistrate of Dunukofia Customary Court, His Worship, Mike Iwunor whom administered Oath of Office during the swearing-in programme that took place at the Executive Chambers of the Local Government Council’s Secretariat, Agu Ukpo.
The Mayor of Dunukofia, Bar. Ozumba (Ifezulumba) and his Deputy Chinweze(Idikacho), who are determined to replicate the Governor Soludo’s development-driven agenda in Dunukofia, urged the Councilors to be the Chief Servants in their respective wards. He reminded them of their great call of God to serve Him through the services they are to render to Ndi Dunukofia.
* A former councilor representing Okpoko Ward One in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Chukwudi Okwaraji, has expressed gratitude to Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his magnanimity in awarding the reconstruction of the damaged Sakamori behind Ogbaru Main Market.
The reconstruction work on the Sakamori, which was said to have been damaged several years ago, has officially commenced. The drainage system, originating from the Upper Iweka axis and connecting with Ezeiweka in Awada, Owerri Road, and passing behind the Ogbaru Main Market fence down to the Niger Bridge Head, has destroyed multiple shops in the market.
Hon. Okwaraji, popularly known as Pele, asserted that Governor Soludo has proven to be a listening leader by responding to the plight of Ogbaru Main Market traders.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the President-General of the market, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, who had made urgent appeals to all levels of government for assistance in reconstructing the drainage system.
* The Plateau State Youth Council has condemned the killing of 7 of its members in Awka, Anambra State.
The victims, 3 from Yamini village of Gwamlar and 4 from Gumshar, all from Kanam Local Government areas of Plateau State, were brutally murdered by unknown gunmen while going about their lawful activities in Anambra.
According to reports, the young men had traveled to the South Eastern part of the country in search of greener pastures to help lessen the burden of school fees. They met their untimely death at a garage, where they were repairing their bikes in broad daylight.

Youth Wing under the leadership of Hon. Chidike Okwaji has mark its one year in office with a summit.
The event held at the egwegwe Square in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State on Monday October 28, 2024 had series of lectures.
NTDU Youth Leader Hon. Chidike Okwaji in his opening remark thanked God for the grace obtained in the past one year of his administration.
Hon. Okwaji appreciated the members of his executive for their zeal, passion, dedication and commitment, urging all to join hands and move Nimo Community farward.
* The Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) Anambra East Local Government Youth Mayor, Engr. Chidi Obiudu has called on National Assembly members to make laws and facilitate bills that will effectively promote youth development and sustain Nigeria’s democracy.
Engr. Obiudu made the call when he led the Nsugbe Youth Assembly (NYA) on a condolence visit to the Senator representing Anambra North, Sen Tony Okechukwu Nwoye, during his father’s burial, in his country home in Offiantta Village in Nsugbe.
Speaking to newsmen, Obiudu who is the President General, Nsugbe Youth Assembly (NYA) stated that the lifeline and the survival of Nigerian democracy depend on the kind of laws made by the legislature, stressing that the youths are ever ready to cooperate and support the legislators to promote good governance in
their various communities when engaged and empowered in meaningful and productive ventures.
* In a deliberate effort to drain the stagnant flood, ease traffic and avert the frequent vehicular accidents, the Mayor of Oyi LGA Hon. Emma Nweke has began the desilting & opening up of drainages of the flooded section of Enugu/Onitsha expressway by Tansian University.
A visit to the section of the road which used to be flooded every rainy season due to the decade long construction errors by the contractors, showed desilting & opening up of the blocked drainages of the road were ongoing to pave way for the correction of the structural errors to make the road smooth, free of flood & also accident free.
This is in fulfillment of one of Nweke’s campaign promises of making Oyi clean, liveable and fit for investors to enhance growth and development in the local government.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Environment Engr. Felix Odimegwu has reaffirmed that the ban on the illegal activities and operations of metal scrap dealers, commonly referred to as ‘Iron Condemned remains in effect.
Odimegwu in an interview addressed the enforcement status of the ban, initially announced on September 13, 2024.
The Commissioner’s comments followed reports indicating that scrap dealers continue to operate within the state, raising concerns about the implementation of the ban.
Odimegwu warned that anyone found operating without proper registration and certification would face arrest and prosecution.
* The Idemili South local government Mayor, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has congratulated newly inaugurated councillors in Idemili South especially Speaker of the House, Hon. Ernest Ezeunyim, Clark and Principal Officers in the council secretariat.
Hon. Obi in her congratulatory message personally signed by her, said, she is very greatful as they took the mantle of leadership in their different wards, stating that they are now at the forefront of governance where decisions will impact the lives of our people.
She said that their roles will encompass addressing pressing issues, advocating with their fellow councillors to actualize the vision for Idemili South local government area and implored them to approach these duties with transparency, dedication and integrity.
Council Mayor noted that the journey ahead will undoubtedly be challenging because of socio-economic hurdles that required not only innovative solutions but also collective effort and urged them to foster strong relationship within their wards, listen to the voices of the people, and engage them actively in the decision making process.
* The 4th edition of the CLIMM U-16 Athletics Championship concluded on a high note for Team Anambra, securing their dominance at the two-day event held from October 25th to 26th.
With remarkable performances across various events, Team Anambra topped the medal standings, earning a total of 19 medals: 7 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze.
Chioma Edeh of Vision High School, Nnewi, emerged as the competition’s Most Valuable Athlete (MVA), impressively clinching three gold medals in the 800m, 1500m, and 4x400m relay events. Edeh’s performance underscored her potential as a rising star in Nigerian athletics.
Several other athletes contributed to Anambra’s success. Ifechukwu Nwankwo took gold in the 400m and added a silver in the 200m, while Kenechukwu Nwabueze secured a gold in the boys’ 1500m and a silver in the 800m. Obiefuna Favour also showcased her talent by winning the long jump in the girls’ category.
* Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi, the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James’ Parish, Awkuzu, has been kidnapped by unidentified individuals.
According to reports, the abduction occurred at the entrance gate of St. James’ Parish, Awkuzu, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.
As of the time of filing this report, no contact has been established with the abductors.
When reached for comment, Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the police had not received a report of the incident.
Meanwhile, the church has begun prayer sessions for the safe release of the victim.
