The Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba has launched a free health insurance program for one thousand (1,000) indigenes of Njikoka.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Mayor in his remark at the event held
on Thursday at the Njikoka Local Government field, stated that the
innovative program is in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision in prioritizing healthcare in Anambra State.
Barr. Ononiba revealed that he is
committed to improving the lives of Njikoka indigenes through providing
accessible and affordable healthcare services to the people.
The Mayor promised to attract devidend of democracy down to the grassroot in line with the plan of Governor Soludo.
“By providing financial protection against
healthcare expenses, this initiative will undoubtedly alleviate the burden of medical costs on beneficiaries and their families.
“This scheme is important because some of ndi Njikoka cannot afford hospital bills.
After one year, we will renew this program and subsequently increase the numbers’. Ononiba said
In his speech Former TC Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Hon. Clem Aguiyi urged all to take advantage of the free health insurance scheme. He commended Soludo for his giant strides in the health sector including free antenatal care.
Commissioner for Health Dr. Afam Obidike while speaking, commended
Ononiba for his kind gesture by launching the health insurance scheme. He also hailed Mrs. Nonye Soludo for her healthy living program.
Chief Protocol to Governor Soludo, Hon. Chinedu Nwoye in his remark commended Ononiba for his good intentions for ndi Njikoka, stating that healthy living is the best.
Nwoye who is also the Deputy Chief of staff to Governor Soludo added by saying
“I want to encourage other public servants and ndi Anambra to continue to give back to the society by helping the needy and the poor. Some of them cannot afford to pay hospital bill. We need more sensitization”.
Representative of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) Dr. Joy Okechi
while speaking said the agency encourages the 21 Mayors of Anambra State to enroll one thousand indigent in their community who cannot afford to buy the premium of health insurance.
She explained that ASHIA is a state social health insurance agency that has the mandate to enroll every resident of the state into the scheme, for them to have access to quality and efficient health care service wherever they are.
Supervisory council for health Njikoka, Hon. Afoma Okpala, representative of World Health Organization (WHO), President General of Abagana, APGA Chairman Njikoka LGA, Pharm Chinedu Anaekwe and Njikoka LGA Councilors in their separate speeches, hailed Ononiba for his kind gestures and achievements in the past hundred days in office.
