With her unprecedented Oscar nomination in 2023 for her work as a lyricist on “Lift Me Up,” one of the soundtracks for Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi has once more brought honour to her homeland. She becomes the first Nigerian to make the Oscar nomination list.
Together with international artist Rihanna, music producer Ludwig Göransson, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, Tems co-wrote the song “Lift Me Up.”
The whole list of nominees was made public on Tuesday, and the sci-fi multiverse hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once” topped it with 11 nominations.
This was followed by Irish dark comedy, “The Banshees of Inisherin”, and World War I flick, “All Quiet on the Western Front”, at nine each.
