Police Arrest Suspects Over Armed Robbery, Drug Peddling in Anambra

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command’s Rapid Response Unit (VCRU), while on patrol along the Igbariam–Achalla Road on June 19, 2026, intercepted and arrested two suspects identified as Williams Ndifon and David Missang, both aged 27.

The suspects were riding on a Daylong motorcycle when they were stopped by the police.

A search conducted on them led to the recovery of a locally made Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, the motorcycle, six GSM phones, two power banks, a sledgehammer, a chisel/metal crack tool, quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, and a black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF).”

According to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects are currently undergoing investigation to determine their involvement in armed robbery and other criminal activities.

In a related development, VCRU operatives acting on intelligence arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Oluchukwu Onyekwe, at Agukwu Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The suspect was reportedly found in possession of a quantity of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.

Preliminary investigations also linked him to cult-related activities within the area.

Police said the suspect remains in custody while further investigations and interrogation continue.

The Command has urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to strengthen efforts aimed at maintaining public safety and security across the state.
