…Three suspects in custody, investigation still ongoing
…Case transferred to state CID for proper review
Anambra police command has invited the Twitter handler *@princenenchecfr* by 11am on Wednesday 7th December 2022 to come with evidence and witnesses of persons when the DPO demanded the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand (350,000) naira from him before releasing the corpse of a young man who was killed.
In a press release made available to ANN by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, PPRO Anambra State command, the police informed members of the public stating that the corpse has not been release.
The police command while responding to the aligation revealed that it is not within the powers of the DPO to release corpse or to investigate murder cases.
However, the case has been transferred to state CID for proper review and consolidation of information. The command also stated that three suspects are in custody and investigation is still ongoing.
The Command, while thanking the members of the public for l their comments and reactions, urged ndi-Anambra to sustain it and noting that, it is from such feedbacks will enable police take right decisions and improve on their services.
It will be recall that on Saturday 26th November 2022, there was rivalry Cult shootings that took place in Awka the Anambra state capital which led to the murder of a young man.
