The Edo state police command says it has killed a Suspected notorious armed robber terrorizing residents of the Benson Idahosa university community Ugbor in Benin City.
The command in a statement by the Deputy police public relations officer Jennifer Iwegbu made available to ANN, said the suspect was killed around 4.45am on Tuesday, following a distress call by residents of an armed robbery operation along Abuja quarters by Benson Idahosa university at Ugbor GRA Benin City.
The police led by the DPO were said to have stormed the scene with a view to arrest the robbery suspect, but engaged them in a shootout which led to the killing of the suspect with others escaping.
Items recovered from the suspect according to the police include one pump action gun and five live cartridges.
The Edo state police commissioner Abutu Yaro reiterated the commands commitment to fighting crimes and criminality, while also promising to arrest the fleeing gang members of the killed notorious suspect.
