Popular Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Asuoha, also known as Real Warri Pikin, has disclosed that her recovery from obesity through gastric sleeve surgery played a pivotal role in her successful conception and smooth pregnancy journey.
In a recent interview with Punch, Asuoha explained that the procedure—which removed approximately 80% of her stomach—not only aided significant weight reduction but also resolved underlying health issues associated with being overweight. These challenges, she said, were previously impeding her ability to conceive.
She reassured her fans that the surgery did not affect any reproductive organs. Instead, it cleared physical barriers to conception, allowing her to achieve a healthy pregnancy.
Addressing concerns about continuing her on-screen work while pregnant, Asuoha emphasized her well-being and autonomy. “My doctor has confirmed I am perfectly fine, and I am not a high-risk patient,” she said. Drawing inspiration from past generations, she added, “Our mothers and those before them went to the farms until they gave birth… So why should pregnancy make me put my life on hold?”
