Omoyele Sowore, one of the presidential candidates in the forthcoming elections has pledged to probe all Nigeria’s past leader and ensure they refund all monies stolen from the country’s coffers.
Speaking via his verified Twitter handle yesterday, Sowore wrote, “As President of Nigeria, I will probe and retrieve every penny stolen by past Nigerian rulers, those who’ve murdered innocents and deprived them of a brighter future. If we could be retrieving money from the dead and buried Sanni Abacha, we should retrieve from living legendary thieves.”
Omoyele “Yele” Sowore is a Nigerian human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, known for founding the online news agency Sahara Reporters. In August 2018, he founded the African Action Congress party and ran as its presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election. He is presently running for President in the 2023 elections under the same party.
