* Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been in detention with the Federal Government of Nigeria. Governor Soludo who made the demand during the APGA Campaign kick-off in Awka, specifically appealed to the Federal Government to  release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. Governor Soludo went further to assert that if the detained IPOB leader cannot be released unconditionally, he should be released to him saying he is ready to stand surety for him.

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), National Executive Committee (NEC) has appointed Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, Governor of Anambra State, as the party’s National Leader. The appointment was made during the Party’s NEC meeting held at the International Convention Center in Awka, where the members unanimously appointed Governor Soludo as the party’s leader. The certificate was formally presented to Governor Soludo by the National Chairman of the Party, Ozonkpu Victor Oye in the presence of all the NEC members.

* Bakers under the aegis of the Premium Breadmakers Association of Nigeria have accused the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, of using strong-arm tactics to impose excessive taxes on its members. The president of the association, Emmanuel Onuorah, made the disclosure in an interview. Onuorah said many bakers were being forced out of business due to excessive taxation by the state government.

* Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has condoled the bereaved Uba family. In his condolence message delivered at the funeral mass for Late Ezinne Paulina Uzoejinwa Uba, held at S.S Peter & Paul Catholic Parish in Isiaku Village, Isuofia, Governor Soludo described the Uba family as a prominent family in the community, referring to Late Ezinne Paulina as his sister because they both hail from Umueze in Isuofia.

* The APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North, Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano, honors Ichie Avulukwe Igbariam with her presence at the funeral of his Late Father yesterday, January 13th. Ichie Avulukwe who is an ardent supporter of the cause of making Osodieme a Senator, welcomed her to Eziama Village Square, the Funeral venue, with open arms. Apparently, the people of Igbariam carries an atmosphere about Osodieme as they gave her a thundering ovation while she walked in majestically in company of her Campaign team led by the DG Chief Chinedu Nnatuanya.

* The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has commenced her tour of the 109 wards and 59 communities in Anambra Central Senatorial District. Ekwunife began the tour with a visit to the two political wards of Awka-Etiti in Idemili South LGA. As part her itenary, the lawmaker paid a courtesy visit to the custodian of culture and tradition of Awka-Etiti, HRH Igwe Micheal Ezeudenna to inform the Igwe and his cabinet of her intention to tour the two wards in the community. This is in line with the federal lawmaker’s esteemed regard for the traditional institutions in the state.

* The commercial and industrial hub of the South East, Nnewi, was agog when the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare commissioned the Nnewi Sports Club House, singlehandedly built by Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, under the administration of Mr. Ifeanyi Ezekaka. Presenting his Presidential Address, the President of Nnewi Sports Club,Ezekaka Ifeanyi traced the history of the Club to 1972, when it was established and within this period of existence, Nnewi Sports Club has made tremendous achievements in the following areas of human development: provision of sporting facilities, building relationships, providing opportunities for members and residents to achieve total health and establishment of Tennis Academy for grooming of young Talents to represent Anambra State”.

* Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has warned accredited JAMB Computer Based Test operators in the habit of overcharging  prospective candidates above Government stipulated rate for Joint Admission Matriculation Examination Board  Form to stop forthwith. The State Commandant of the Corps, Chikere Isidore, gave the warning when he received in audience the Anambra State Coordinator in his office at the state Command Headquarters Awka.

* The Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has assured the people of the state of a possible 24-hour power supply.

Soludo stated this in his acceptance speech as the national leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made available to our correspondent by his press secretary, Christian Aburime. Soludo in his address said,” We are working on power to provide 24-hour power. We’re getting started. People will have access to high-speed wifi and internet, thanks to the installation of 2000 kilometers of fiber optic cable.

* Bianca Ojukwu, wife of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukuwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu has said that the Igbo, above other things, need justice, equity and inclusiveness in Nigeria. The former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, spoke while receiving a delegation from the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who visited her at the family’s GRA Enugu residence. Bianca noted that most Nigerians were looking forward to a new government which will change the already established norms in the country, declaring that the oncoming polls were decisive to the future of Nigeria and its people

* The candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Dr. Amaechi Nwachukwu, has explained and elaborated in details his 7-point agenda and manifesto ahead of the February 25th House of Representatives election. The manifesto, which contains programmes tailored to address the challenges confronting his immediate and fellow constituents of one of the eleven Federal Constituencies in Anambra State, especially in the area of access to quality health care, mechanized agricultural farming, human capacity development, youth and women empowerment, education and care to the elderly had been unveiled in mid September, 2022. 

* Leader of Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET) Prince Chris Azor who doubles as Citizens Co-chair Open Government Partnership (OGP) has congratulated the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his appointment as the National Leader of his Political Party, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

ACSONET made up of foremost Citizens and Non State Actors stakeholders through there leader stated that it’s a step in the right direction and an impetus to achieve giant strides. 

* The Young Progressives Party Candidate for the Federal House of Representatives for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the forthcoming election, Hon. Amb. Peter Ifeanyi Uzokwe has described the YPP as a Party without any virus. He made this comment in Nnewi shortly after the official commissioning of the Nnewi Sports Club House built and donated by the YPP Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

* The National Population Commission, NPC, has wrapped up a ten-day state level training for Data Quality Managers, DQMs, for the 2023 Population and Housing Census. The training, held in Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area, attracted twenty-six participants selected from Ithe twenty-one local government areas of Anambra State.
