STATE AFFAIRS:  IS THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) IN CRISIS?

In 2019, the PDP was one house and would have wrestled power from the APC if the presidential election was free and fair. However, as the country nears the 2023 general election, there appears to be chaos in the PDP. Today there are more questions than answers in the party and one would ask, what is actually happening to the once almighty PDC?

The Questions

Is there a PDP southern governors gang up against Atiku? Why are some governors angry that Atiku Abubakar did not pick Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State as his running mate? Is it an advantage for Peter Obi?

Possible Answers

So far, three bigwigs within the party have giving clues on possible answers to these intriguing questions.

Obaseki of Edo State

Godwin Obaseki, a PDP governor of Edo State received Obi recently. He spoke for equity and fairness if the Nigerian State were to be united. A number of questions are predicate Obaseki’s comment: Is Obaseki Obidient? Has Obaseki been Obified? Is he one of the Southern governors of the PDP working against Atiku?

Orthem of Benue State

What about Samuel Ortom of Benue State? Hear him:

“I am praying. I have gone into hibernation and I am fasting and praying. So, in the end, if God directs me to support Atiku, why should I not do it? But the bottom line for me is that I have gone into hibernation.”

What is hibernation? Why is Ortom waiting on God to direct him? Is it because Atiku did not pick his man, Wike as running mate. Atiku picked Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State. Ortom argues:

“14 out of 17 members say that Wike should be the VP but in his wisdom, he chose Governor Okowa.”

Fayose the Former Governor of Ekiti State

Have you seen Ayodele Fayose? Fayose says Wike has been injured that wherever he goes they will go. When asked what about if he goes to Atiku? He must have said “Tufiakwa” inside him before saying:

“Wike cannot come out to say he is supporting Atiku. I dare him to say so. If Wike supports Atiku, we will abandon him.”

These are interesting times and the questions continue: Will Atiku ever be president? What about Baba Tinubu? Did he go to primary and secondary school? Who wants to go to school? Eze Goes to School. Did he? What does all these mean for the emergence of Obi and the Labour Party? It is an interesting time for Nigeria and Nigerians.
