President Bola Tinubu has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, the All Progressives Congress announced on Friday, ending months of speculation.
The ruling party formally presented the nomination forms of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket to its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Saturday deadline.
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed the decision. “The presidential candidate of the party is President Bola Ahmed… and our vice presidential candidate is the Vice President… Senator Kashim Shettima,” he stated.
Party leaders expressed confidence in re-election, citing achievements including student loans, infrastructure and agricultural interventions. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, speaking for APC governors, reaffirmed support: “We reiterate our commitment to continue supporting President Tinubu and the party.”
