* Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Nonye gathered family, friends and well wishes to show appreciation for God’s benevolence in their marriage for the last thirty years. A thanksgiving mass was celebrated by Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke at the Governor’s Countryhome, Isuofia, to mark the milestone.
* A storey building office apartment at No 52 Awka Road, Onitsha, Anambra State was gutted by fire. The fire which started around 1pm, which was reportedly caused by power outage. The affected building is housing the office of a candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state. The Fire Chief Engr Martin Agbili who confirmed the incident, said no life was lost in the inferno.
* The traditional ruler of Ikem Invite community in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State, HRM, Igwe Simon Obidike, has said that he will confer chieftaincy titles on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, a renowned business man, Jesse Chidama, Kabiru Rabiu and other two persons from north at his maiden Ofala festival slated to hold on 1st and 2nd 2023.
* The Wife of the immediate past Senator Representing Anambra Central District, Senator Victor Umeh, Lady Prisca has hosted thousands of children to a Christmas party.
The 2022 edition of the annual Christmas party is the sixteenth in the series. The party attracted over two thousand children from across the state. It featured dance competition, teachings on the significance of Christmas, sharing of gift, cutting of cake and performance by Santa Claus to entertain the children.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has ordered the arrest and detention of the Acting President General, Caretaker Committee of Bridgehead Market, Onitsha, Chief Chinedu Ezekwike. A source close to the market said Chief Ezekwike was arrested on 22/12/2022 by Police from Fegge Division on the orders of the Governor himself. It was gathered that the Governor was infuriated by the commencement of the rebuilding of the shops razed down in November this year during the explosion of chemicals at Onitsha Drug Market
* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Onyechimelu’eze), has received priestly blessings from men of God and Ndị Ojoto as he offered himself to serve umu Idemili. Iyiegbu received the blessings during the Empowerment Programme organized by Ochendo Foundation held at the residence of his business associate and Founder of the foundation, High Chief Augustine Anozie (Ochendo Ojoto). Over 1,000 indigenes and non indigenes of Ojoto were empowered.Â
* Member representing Anambra East in State House of Assembly and l candidate for House of Representatives, Anambra East and West Federal Constituency under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Pharm. Obinna Emeneka(Ijele Omabala) has felicitated with the people of his constituency on the occasion of marking the birthday of Jesus Christ. Hon. Emeneka noted that the joy and happiness Christmas brings pointed that the people can live in unity and peace if they allowed peace of God to guide their affairs.
*There has been serious tension in Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government area of Anambra State for the past two days following the kidnapping of the Managing Director of People’s Bookshop, Ogbuehi Pius Egwuekwe, by unknown gunmen in front of his palatial home. Ogbuehi Egwuekwe was whisked away by the bandits in front of his house and taken to an unknown place probably in order to demand for ransom. He was said to have driven down from Zaria in the Northern part of the country with his driver to his village in Ibughubu Umuchu to celebrate this year’s Christmas with his family.
* In fulfilling the promise he made to the people of Nkwelle Ezunaka at the APGA stakeholders meeting convened by Ogbuefi Willie Okafor, the APGA candidate for House of Assembly, Oyi Constituency, Hon Sir Innocent Ojike (OJICAM), undertook palliatives works on some failed portions of road in Nkwelle Ezunaka. Ojicam who was physically present supervising the works for hour, stated that the palliative works wasn’t for election gimmicks rather, his own way of reducing the sufferings of the motorists using the roads on daily basis.
* Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has advocated that love and understanding remains the recipe for a successful marriage.
Governor Soludo was speaking during the thanksgiving mass celebrated to mark the thirtieth wedding anniversary ceremony between himself and his wife, Nonye.
During the mass which was celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpalaeke, the couple renewed their marital vows to each other and exchanged rings.
* Prince Arthur Eze has said that the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, is the expected Nigerian president of Igbo extraction not the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi. He said he advised Obi to perish his presidential ambition, but he ( Obi) did not listen to him.
* The Archbishop of Onitsha Metropolitan Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke, has appealed for the commitment of Federal Government of Nigeria in the Skill Acquisition Centre he is building for the inmates of Onitsha Correctional Centre by fencing the Centre. Archbishop Okeke who spoke when he celebrated the Christmas with the inmates of the Correctional Centre said the project is almost completed with only the landscaping and fencing remaining.
