* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has described the latest record-breaking feat by students of Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, at the World Affairs Challenge (WAC), as a fair return of government’s intentional investments in the state’s education sector. The governor’s wife who stated this in her message which was released in Awka, noted that such giant milestones could only come from Anambra State where education is given primary attention as the mainstay of human capital development. The CKC students who were representing Nigeria at the WAC 2024, organized by World Denver, a global organization based in Denver, Colorado, USA, beat countries like Turkey and USA to emerge as overall winners of the reputable competition.

* Residents of Amajaana village in Nando, Anambra East LGA have declared their total support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo, both to ensure that his administration succeeds and for his re-election into office for for second term in 2025. The residents made the declaration while receiving the newly-completed Amajaana Water Project, which was rehabilitated and handed over to them by the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Power and Water Resources. The water project, which was previously non-functional, was rehabilitated, converted to solar-powered borehole, re-equiped with 3000-gallon tanks, and got technically handed over to the community for the service of their water need.

* The Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra State Chapter, Dr. Valentine Iyke Oliobi, has distributed wrappers to one hundred and seventy less privileged women in his Nimo community, Njikoka LGA of the State. The distribution took place at his Ikemba 1 of Nimo Villa residence during the celebration of life/78th birthday anniversary of his mother,  Ezinne Cecilia Nwanyibuife Oliobi.

* The Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comdt. Maku Olatunde visited the Eid prayer ground in Amawbia to supervise and coordinate the already emplaced security to keep all worshipers safe, and avoid any eventuality. Commenting on the essence of his visit, Comdt. Maku said the command is determined to fish out undesirable elements that may use the opportunity to ferment trouble hence the deployment of enough manpower to the entire parameter of the Eid prayer ground. 

* Anambra Joint Security Force has extended its manhunt for criminals attacking security formations in the State to Ogbaru forest. Locations around Amiyi and Ochuche were combed for the insurgents. Troops of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy lent considerable firepower to the operation which  completely routed the hoodlums from their hideouts in the forest. According to a release by Police Public Relations  Officer, Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, several camps were found and destroyed during the operation which lasted several hours.

* The senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has commenced a second phase of re-energizing security in Anambra South senatorial zone. The pilot scheme for the second phase of this project is starting in Nnewi, from where it will be extended to other places, just like in the first phase.

Around April last year, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah after an attack on his convey that left some of his aides dead, weighed into the security challenge that was then critical. With a blend of technology and men, Ubah was able to make a modest input in security of lives and properties. At the time, it was scary and dangerous, with nearly everyone living in fear, especially across Anambra South senatorial zone. Since Sen. Ubah’s intervention, the security situation in Nnewi and Anambra South has improved, even as his efforts compliment that of the state government and security agencies in the state.

* Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) had received some farm equipments from the office of the Disability Rights Commission, led by it’s Chairman, Barr Chukwuka Ezewuzie. 

The equipments which was delivered personally by Barr Ezewuzie, was made possible by the International Office of Migration, which donated the farm equipments to the state government to assist victims of flood disaster and farmers  with disabilities in their agricultural enterprise. Ezewuzie who was received at the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home Agulu, commended the donor agency, International Office of Migration (IOM).

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has described as inhuman and disheartening bystanders’ attitudes in times of emergencies, which concentrate more on using dire situations to make contents for social media instead of responding accordingly. The governor’s wife who was reacting to the death of Nollywood actor, JohnPaul Odonwodo, popularly known as “Junior Pope”, who was involved in a boat mishap on the Niger River, while returning from a movie location, said that the growing bystanders’ attitudes of neglect during emergencies have cost many lives which would have ordinarily been saved if people around acted rightly.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu has called on Ndi Anambra to plant trees within their households to mitigate climate change and erosion in the state.

Odimegwu made the call during  the flag-off of tree planting exercise by Senatorch Limited at Amazon Housing Estate, Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area. The Commissioner noted that Senatorch Ltd the developers of the estate has complemented Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts of creating green zones and arresting over 1000 active erosion sites in the state by planting trees inside the estate.

* The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of actors who lost their lives as a result of a Boat Accident which occured on the River Niger in the afternoon  of Wednesday,  10th April, 2024. According to a release by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer,

Anambra State Command, the boat, one of two that conveyed the crew to a film location in Anambra West LGA of was returning to Asaba, where it took off from when the accident happened. On being notified of the capsize, Anambra Command Marine Police deployed for rescue operations and successfully rescued six actors and one actress from the water.
