* Police Operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping unit acting on credible information, busted a criminal Camp at Ukpor.

The Operatives arrested one Ewulu Chikwo aged 35 years from Osumoghu Isieke Village, Ihiala LGA.

The suspect and his gang members were allegedly planning to enforce illegal Sit-At-Home in the area the following Monday.

During the interrogation of the Suspect, he confessed to being a member of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and also among the armed criminals that attacked the Ukpor Divisional Police Headquarters in the year 2022 where a Policewoman, Inspector Stella Maris was gruesomely murdered.

Anambra State Command, the Joint Security Force has intensified patrols in the area.

* Ex-governorship candidate of the Africa Liberation Party (ALP), Chief Imoyeto Ikeotuonye, has questioned why the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has yet to release guidelines for the conduct of the Anambra South Senatorial District by-election.

Speaking with journalists in Nnewi, Anambra State, a visibly displeased Chief Ikeotuonye expressed concern over the prolonged absence of a serving senator for the zone, noting that it has had several significant negative consequences.

Ikeotuonye emphasized that the lack of representation in the Senate has adversely affected the constituents, given the importance of the position in shaping federal policy, attracting developmental projects, and articulating local concerns at the national level.

* The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu has led a security patrol of Operation Udo Ga Chi -Zero Kidnapping: a reflection of the Police Command strategy to enhance safety in the State.

The CP during the patrol stopped by at 3-3 in Nkwelle Ezunaka Community where he interacted with stakeholders comprising different Chairmen of the Estates, Private Security Operatives and other respected residents in the area to enhance greater cooperation for more effective policing in the area.

Orutugu in his address said his goal is prioritizing community safety and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve lasting peace especially the Police-led Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping which means: “Peace must Reign,” through increased security presence to deter crimes and reassure the public.

The Stakeholders in recognizing the Command’s efforts at enhancing security and fighting crime, especially reflecting on the CP’s value to the community engagement in Policing, recognized him with the award of a Strategic Crime Fighter.

* Anambra House of Assembly Committee on Public Petition Chaired by Hon. Obi Nweke through a resolution has condemn multiple taxation in the State.

The House Committee made the statement after looking at the prayers of the petition from the Anambra Tricycle Riders Association (ANTRA) an umbrella body for keke riders.

The resolution which followed the recommendations of the Public
Petition Committee explained that Anambra government is against any form of touting in the state, and whoever that is collecting any fee from the petitioners with the name of the state government is null and void and should be resisted.

According to the recommendations, there are so many scavengers all over in Onitsha and across the state that the Anti Touting Squad should with immediate effect look into the activities of the Petitioners and get rid of all the scavengers in the Keke riders operation across the state including one ” Governor Obosi” in Onitsha.

The Resolution of the House also said that the Commissioner for Transport should give a written authority to Anambra State Tricycle Riders Association to manage its own affairs especially with regards to collection of fees, rates, dues and that the petitioner remits the agreed sum to the government as directed by the governor.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has extended warm felicitations to traditional rulers in the South East region, emphasizing that collaboration is key to building the South East of their dreams.

This message was conveyed during a recent meeting of the South East Traditional Rulers’ Council aimed at fostering unity and working together towards regional development.

Speaking at the gathering, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State highlighted the importance of each stakeholder playing a vital role in the region’s advancement.

* As tongues continue to wag over the demolition of the head office of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) company in Nnewi, Anambra state, by the firm handling the dualisation of Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija road project, facts have emerged on why the chairman of the company, Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma has not spoken up concerning the development.

Chief Chukwuma, in an interview said he chose to remain silent over the matter pending when he would meet face to face with Governor Charles Soludo.

“I cannot say anything now till I meet Governor Soludo and talk with him about what was demolished. He is my very good friend, and we do a lot of things together.

“A lot of people were saying one thing or the other concerning the matter, but their inciting disturbances cannot influence me to say what I should not say.

“I will meet with Mr. Governor over the demolition, and I believe our talks shall be fruitful. Until then, I reserve my comments.”

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has said that his second term will Centre around specific projects that will put a crown to his quest to make Anambra a green, liveable and prosperous homeland.

The governor said while doing this, he will also ensure sustenance of projects he has already achieved in his first term.

In a press statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo listed specific projects he will embark on to include; three new smart cities, Anambra mixed-use industrial city, rail project to connect specific cities in the state, digital access to medical consultations, development of tourist sites, bursary for Anambra students and many others.

* The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has emerged as the winner of the 2025 Anambra State Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) cup.

The competition was part of the activities marking May 1 workers’ Day celebrations in the state.

The NLC-organized competition brought together affiliate unions to showcase their sporting prowess and foster unity among labour unions in the state.

In the evening match held at Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka, JUSUN team emerged champions, defeating the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW) 2-1 in the closely contested

 

* The Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Abba Ward Two; in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr Ikechukwu Egbe has been allegedly banned from holding positions in the community for ten years over leadership crisis.

Mr Egbe, who addressed a press conference in the community over the development, said he was banned for agitating against bad leadership in Abba community.

He said he was also suspended as the Chairman of APGA, Abba Ward Two on a similar ground.

He alleged that the Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Hon Jude Akpua, and the President General of Abba Town Union, Mr Alexander Ekwuagana, connived to orchestrate the ban and suspension respectively.

* An Anambra State trader, Mrs. Eberechukwu Okoye, is demanding N22 million in compensation from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for the alleged looting of her shop during a recent enforcement operation.

Her lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, issued a pre-action notice stating that NAFDAC officials and security personnel vandalized Mrs. Okoye’s shop at Ogbo-Ogwu Bridgehead Market in Onitsha, stealing clothing, shoes, and other items unrelated to drugs.

The incident occurred during a two-month NAFDAC operation targeting unregistered and counterfeit drugs.

Mrs. Okoye claims her shop, which sells non-drug items, was looted without warning or justification, and that accompanying security personnel were allowed to act with impunity.
