# The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu has commended Inspector Okoma Ewa, Corporal Chawalamoke Godsfavour and Constable Emekwisore Ifeanyi for their exceptional display of courage, swift response to an incident and high level of professionalism in the line of duty.

These officers demonstrated uncommon bravery and tactical efficiency while responding promptly to a reported incident, thereby denying armed hoodlums the space they enjoy to commit havoc, recovery of arms, stolen money, and other incriminating items.

The CP praised the officers for their commitment to duty, describing their conduct as exemplary and worthy of emulation by other personnel. He emphasized that such acts of professionalism will not go unnoticed, assuring that the command remains committed to recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance.

The Commissioner further reiterated the command’s resolve to maintain law and order, while encouraging officers to continue discharging their responsibilities with integrity, courage, and respect for human rights.

# The Anambra State Coordination Office of the FGN/IFAD Value Chain Development Programme has distributed start-up packs, cassava processing equipment and crèche materials worth millions of naira to beneficiaries across the nine participating local government areas of the state.

The distribution exercise was performed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, who noted that the initiative aligns with the agricultural development agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, with emphasis on strengthening agro-processing in the state.

Dr. Ihejiofor encouraged the 20 youths trained in fabrication and welding of agricultural processing equipment to deploy the tools effectively in producing affordable and durable machines capable of reducing post-harvest losses and lowering the cost of value addition.

He also urged them to offer their services at affordable rates and to extend the training to other interested Anambra youths, given that the training was provided at no cost.

# The 25th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, which took place at the Lighthouse, Awka, made several important decisions.

According to a release by Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner Information, Anambra State, ANSEC once again emphasised that erosion is an existential issue in Anambra State, citing the careless actions of communities and regulatory bodies that have disregarded environmental regulations.

“For instance, some residents direct stormwater from their homes onto the roads, where it accumulates in different ways and contributes to the erosion crisis currently affecting Anambra State.

“ANSEC decided to step up enforcement to force people to build and manage storm waters from their houses and for communities to follow specific guidelines, like building erosion barriers and excavating sand only in locations that have been allowed.

# Anambra State House of Assembly has adopted the virement for the 2025 Appropriation Law for the services of Anambra State Government as a working document of the House, following a request by Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

The adoption followed the recommendation of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at today’s plenary session, after which the House resolved into the Committee of Supply where the necessary legislative actions were taken.

The Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, called for the adoption of the virement, which was unanimously approved through a voice vote.

# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, which took place at the Lighthouse, Awka, after hearing another report about people blatantly intruding on government lands and building on them without permission, the council resolved to form a committee to reclaim these government lands in and around Anambra State.

ANSEC release of N95,239,056.80 (ninety-five million, two hundred and thirty-nine thousand, fifty-six naira, eighty kobo) for the provision of water supply to the Ekwulobia Flyover Bridge Fountain and the ornamental garden awarded to Double NC Construction & Logistics Ltd.

They also release of the sum of N172,028,797.10 (one hundred and seventy-two million, twenty-eight thousand, seven hundred and ninety-seven naira, ten kobo) only for landscaping the car park for the Trauma Centre at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, Anambra State, awarded to Triseconds Resources Ltd.

“Release of the sum of N93,416,220.52 (ninety-three million, four hundred and sixteen thousand, two hundred and twenty naira, fifty-two kobo) for the installation of a 3-way traffic light, including pedestrian lights, at the Ifite-Amenyi intersection within Awka metropolis, awarded to S.N.U. Ventures

“Release of the sum of N50,449,487.93 (fifty million, four hundred and forty-nine thousand, four hundred and eighty-seven naira, ninety-three kobo) for the supply and installation of two 10 kVA inverters with 15 kW lithium batteries at the Anambra State Civil Service Commission Building in Awka, awarded to Kennolly Enterprises.

“Release of the sum of N119,111,045.97 (one hundred and nineteen million, one hundred and eleven thousand, forty-five naira, ninety-seven kobo only) for the supply and installation of transformer substations at 2 locations (Nnewi & Umueze-Anam communities) awarded to Aries and Gold Ventures Ltd and Aljovic Construction Ltd.

# The traditional ruler of Mkpunando Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area, Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo has decried the illegal and destructive activities of sand miners dredging sand at Agbanabo Ezu Na Omabala River bank.

Igwe Onyeaka-Mbanefo who is the Deputy Chairman, Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council described the activities of the miners illegal and expressed that no Environmental Impact Accessment, EIA was conducted before the mining commenced.

Speaking to journalists during the inspection, the Monarch maintained that the illegal activities has led to road collapse in three communities of Enugwu Otu Aguleri.

Worried by the activities of Land miners, the traditional ruler, during the tour from
the Odene -Agbanobo Ezu na Omabala river banks down to Eziagulu-Otu axis, stated that the environment threat of the miners who are under the umbrella of Odene Agbanabo Aguleri Sand Miners Association is becoming worrisome.

# Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday passed ‘Anambra State Taxes, Levies and Presumptive Tax (approved list for collection) bill 2025, into law.

The bill was passed at plenary after consideration of report by the House Committee on Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), Chaired by the lawmaker representing Ihiala One Constituency, Hon. Jude Ngobili.

At the ‘Committee of the Whole’, the lawmakers did some necessary corrections after which a motion was moved for the third reading and passage,
by the Majority Leader who is representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi, member representing Nnewi South two Constituency

Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided the sitting said the law shall come into force, from 1st January 2026.
