# The Managing Director of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Christopher Molokwu, has assured the management of Diaspora Digital Media of robust collaboration that will achieve the desired results.

Mr. Molokwu, who gave the assurance when the management team of the outfit paid him a courtesy visit in his office, said that ABS, as one of the most active media stations in the South-East region and the mouthpiece of the Anambra State Government and the region, will give them all the necessary support required to achieve their aims and objectives.

He explained that the media outfit will partner with them by using its radio, television and social media platforms to publicise their activities.

On his part, the General Manager of Diaspora Digital Media, Mr. Kelvin Dakpo, disclosed that DDM is designed to portray African stories in a better way for the world to see through its YouTube and cable platforms, as against the portrayal of African stories in a bad light by some foreign media stations.

He further disclosed that DDM has a digital academy where it trains youths in information technology and media-related courses, as well as a technology hub where young people can acquire skills in the latest technologies, while the Chief Executive Officer of the establishment, Mrs. Beatrice Akwanamnye, added that they chose ABS as their partner because of its reputation and wide reach.

# Osili Village has emerged as the champion of the 2025 Enugwu-Ukwu Unity Cup Football Competition, a prestigious annual tournament sponsored by the founder of Aid the Hungry Foundation, Hon. Dozie Okoye (Oba Ikepamaego Enugwu-Ukwu) in collaboration with the Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union (ECDU) and the Enugwu-Ukwu Youth Council (EYC).

The 2025 edition of the Enugwu-Ukwu Unity Cup featured 18 villages from Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The thrilling grand finale was played at the Orabuike Primary School pitch, Enugwu-Ukwu, where Osili Village defeated Umuakwu Village by 2 goals to 1 in a highly competitive encounter. The victory crowned Osili Village as the new champion of the tournament.

At the end of the competition, Osili Village went home with the grand prize of ₦1 million, while Umuakwu Village, the first runners-up, received ₦500,000. Avomimi Village, who defeated Uruokwe Village 2–1 in the third-place playoff, received ₦300,000.

# Seventeen out of the eighteen members of world executive officers of Merchants Of Light School Oba have been returned to man the affairs of the association for the next three years while a new member, Mr Chinedu Obuekwe was appointed to serve as the Treasurer of the association since the former Treasurer stepped down on account of old age.

This featured during their Annual General Meeting after their Founders Day cum 2026 Biennial Convention, and the eightieth anniversary celebration of the school held in the school hall.

The World President of the association Prof. Tony Nwokoye said that they are disappointed with the dilapidated state they met the school, and are committee to take ownership of the school which they are already doing by donating millions of naira adding that they are already renovating the building housing the hall and other places, calling on others who are yet to join hands no matter how little to move their Alma Mater forward.

# Ojoto Community took centre stage at Tansian University in Umunya, as the university began Year 2026 on a high note with the commissioning of a brand new Auditorium for its Faculty of Law, built and donated by a well-known Ojoto philantropist (Dr Sir Kingsley Udechukwu) in memory of Senator Sir Annie Okonkwo,
a well-known Senator from Ojoto who died in 2023.

Led by His Majesty the Igwe of Ojoto himself, dignitaries from the Community were there in their numbers to support the Donor and members of Sen. Annie Okonkwo’s family who were also there in full force.

Also well-represented were the University’s Governing Council (led by its Pro-Chancellor & Chairman, Prof Ellis Idemobi) and University Management (led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Eugene Nwadialor) and Prof. Stella Okunna, a Member of the University’s Governing Council.

# Diocese On the Niger has admitted 86 faithful into the order of knight of St.Christopher at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.

The solemn and colourful celebration presided over by the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo attracted dignitaries, the clergy and relatives of the knights.

Bishop Nwokolo during the sermon, gave a strong message of commitment to positive changes, values of truth, justice, loyalty and valour to the knights and christians at large.

Speaking, the President, Knights of St. Christopher, Sir Ikechukwu Ejelue charged the new knights to be strong soldiers of Christ and assist the church in all it’s undertakings while the coordinator, Lady Knights, Lady May Obi-Okoye urged the knights and their ladies to assist in training children of these age for the better.

# The Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians, irrespective of the present socio-economic challenges in the country, to feed their minds with positivity, love, peace, contentment and consistency.

The First Lady said the virtues are essential for good health and a clearer sense of human existence.

Mrs Soludo, Founder of Healthy Living initiative, made the assertion in a message to commemorate the International Mind-Body Wellness Day.

Speaking further on the day, Mrs Soludo said that true self-development is unattainable when the mind and body are not in harmony.

# Nando Development Union (NDU) in Anambra East Local Government Area, has elected Mr. Okechukwu Uwadiegwu as President General.

The election, which had all eligible voters from the eight villages of the community casting their votes, through a secret ballot system, saw Engr Uwadiegwu poll 989 votes to defeat the incumbent President General, Mr. Christopher Nwakor, who garnered 807 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Engr Uwadiegwu thanked ndi Nando for believing in him, assuring them that he would not betray their trust but would work diligently to meet expectations and bring development to the community.

Hon.Tony Ifejika was also elected Secretary General, alongside other members of the executive, during the election monitored by state government officials, the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC), and security personnel.

In his speech, the team leader from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Mike Okechukwu, said the exercise was free, fair, and credible, and urged the union to review and amend its constitution to enable delegate voting, noting that the process observed on ground was tedious and obsolete.

# A businessman, Engr Celestine Okafor has raised the alarm over unlawful arrest and detention of his younger brother, Ozonkpu Amobi Okafor in policy custody from his home in Umuokpaeri village, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra state.

Okafor said the arrest might not be unconnected to crisis rocking the community over the Ozonkpu Enugwu-Ukwu society.

He said the victim, a US based medical and health practitioner was arrested in what appeared as abduction shortly after his return to the village for the Christmas festivities.
