* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has appeal to Nigerians to avoid being influenced by money during next month’s general elections. The Most Reverend Ezeokafor, who made the appeal in Awka, said it is time for the electorate to declare their stand on how to better the country. He decried the poor governance in the country which has led to untold economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and added that there is need to liberate the masses from bondage.

* The entire Ifite-Enu Nimo and Ward 3 were agog, as a great Nimo Son Hon. Tochi Amalu drumed support for Senator Uche Ekwunife (IYOM) re-election into the 10th Assembly of Senate. Nimo Ward 3 voters took time to eulogize Senator Ekwunife and her giant strides in the National Assembly. Speaking to the crowd, Tochi Amalu took them through the memory lane of how Senator Ekwunife helped him become a better part of himself through facilitation of Federal Employment and other grants.

* A concerned citizen has raised alarm over thousands of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs) yet to be collected by their owners in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. It was gathered that the uncollected PVCs, numbering over 2,500 belong to residents who vote in about 28 polling units in the community, but the owners are nowhere to be found, while the deadline for PVC collection, as was given by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is fast approaching. According to a video currently trending on the social media, the INEC official in charge of distribution of the PVCs usually waits at the collection center at Oko Ward 2 all day long without seeing anyone showing up to pick his card

* The Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), for the Anambra North senatorial district, Chief (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano, stormed Ogbaru Local Government with her campaign team where she sold her manifesto to the good people of Ogbaru LGA.

While speaking to the good people of Ogbaru, Osodieme confirmed that 2 out of the 28 houses built for widows were benefitted by Ndi Ogbaru as well as drinkable water dug for communal uses. She also narrated her experience while she journeyed to the outskirt of Ogbaru, Ugwu-Ikpele to identify with the people and their problems as a proof of her love for them.

* The federal lawmaker representing Oyi/Ayamelum federal house and the candidate of People’s democratic party (PDP) for Oyi/Ayamelum federal house of reps election Hon. Barr. Vincent Ofumelu has congratulated the Auxiliary bishop of onitsha Archdiocese Most Rev. Denis Isizoh on his 67th birthday anniversar. Conveying the best wishes on behalf of the good people of Oyi/Ayamelum federal Constituency through his Media director, the federal lawmaker thanked God almighty for the gift of His lordship Denis Chidi Isizoh to his Constituency and onitsha Archdiocese at large.

* National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has called for improved security in Ifite, a community close to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where students living off campus reside. In a press conference, the Financial Secretary of NANS Zone F, Mr Okafor Ernest, representing the NANS chairman of the zone called for a reinforcement of security in Ifite, to give students living in the area a sense of security.

* Beneficiaries of Anambra State Government Oil Palm and Coconut Seedlings have pledged to support the initiative to facilitate optimal productivity across the state. Some stakeholders, including principals of secondary schools and heads of institutions where these seedlings were planted, made the commitment when an inspection team from the state ministry of Agriculture, visited their offices to ascertain the performance of the seedlings.

* Anambra State Government has marked over one hundred shops for demolition in Awka, the capital city of the state.

The shops, located along the Oby Okoli Avenue, which stretches from Unizik Temp Site to across Okpuno, were marked alongside other structures, which include residential apartments, offices, billboards, fences, among others.

* The chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration for responding positively to the demands by the citizens of the state on the poor state of major roads. Dr, Odogwu, who made the remark in a statement in Awka, appealed to the state government to also look into social welfare issues of the citizenry and come up with government policies that will serve as social safety nets and economic stimulus packages that will help cushion the effects of the country’s economic situation.

* The bill for an Act to Establish Federal University of Environment Nanka has scaled through the third reading. This is coming after a year of its second reading. “This establishment when signed by the President will give students an opportunity to conduct a first hand research partaining to erosion and other environmental challenges.

Furthermore, it will create employment opportunities for our teeming youths both within and outside my Constituency”. Hon. Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo submitted at plenary.

* Anambra State government has assured ndi-Ihiala that it will not allow those unknown elements who has made themselves  enemies of the state to take over the homeland. The State Government through the office of the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon Tonycollins Nwabunwanne stressed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is making serious efforts towards protection of lives and property of all the inhabitants of the state

* Awkuzu Progressive Union (APU), a community in Oyi local government area of Anambra State has elected a new President General in the name of Dr. Oguegbunam Ejike Moses.

* Young Progressive Party (YPP) Candidate and the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has distribution fifty street lights per ward to ndi Nnewi North Local government. This is in-line with his agenda of “Operation Light up and Secure Anambra South”.
