* Governorship aspirant, Chief Valentine Ozigbo has reminded the people of Anambra State that “This is the Year, This is the Time” for positive change.
Apparently referring to the November 8, 2025 governorship poll in the state, Ozigbo in a poetic and inspiring message, reflected on the journey of the past year, highlighting the resilience and strength of the people of Anambra State.
Ozigbo’s words are likely to resonate with many, inspiring them to work towards a brighter future for the state.
In his message, Ozigbo emphasized the importance of true leadership, which he believes is not just about direction, but about connection and compassion.
* The Mayor of Njikọka local government area, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba has commissioned classrooms renovated by a group of noble women residing in the United States of America (USA), known as “The Diamond Ladies”.
Barr. Ononiba while thanking the group for their selfless contribution to the society, emphasized the need for other well-to-do individuals to emulate this true act of philanthropy.
Before the intervention of these industrious Ladies at Nnamdi Azikiwe secondary school Abagana, the building was in total decay.
Speaking after the commissioning of the project, the Chairlady of the group, who facilitated the project, Lolo Amara Akpuaka, thanked her group for investing such a huge amount of money on a project they’ve absolutely nothing to benefit from and ask God to replenish their pockets.
* In a remarkable demonstration of inclusive leadership, the Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, convened an end-of-year meeting with APGA stakeholders to review progress and outline future initiatives.
Speaking at the gathering yesterday, Mayor Nwora expressed his gratitude to party members and stakeholders for their unwavering support and contributions toward the growth of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the development of Onitsha North.
The Mayor urged attendees to remain steadfast in backing the transformative administration of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, describing it as a blessing to Anambra State. He also reiterated his confidence in Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa’s leadership as APGA’s National Chairman, predicting brighter days ahead for the party.
Mayor Nwora unveiled plans to install a striking water fountain at the St. Charles Borromeo entrance and launch “Operation Zero Potholes” to ensure smoother traffic flow during and after the festive season.
* Otu Ọdụ Ojoto, a prestigious and elite socio-cultural group of titled women in Ojoto, Idemili South local Government Area, has launched the “Light Up Ojoto” project with the target to install 800 solar powered streets lights in the eight villages of the community.
Addressing the gathering at the launch of the project, the President of the group, Mrs. Ngozi Anyabolu said they already have 500 pieces of the solar lamps and poles on ground and needs the support of well meaning individuals in the community to hit their target.
She explained that they initiated the project to sustain the development trajectory and boost the security infrastructure in the community.
* The Bishop of Ekwulobia Catholic Diocese, His Eminence, Cardinal Peter Ebele Okpalaeke, says failure from
parents, community and the Church are reasons why there’s increased in marriage crashes in the world today.
Cardinal Okpalaeke, disclosed this while speaking to Journalists during the 45th Wedding Anniversary ceremony of Chief and lolo Paulinus Nwafor in Ezioko village-Oko, Orumba North local government area of Anambra State.
The Prelate said training of children on the ways of God from infantry to the riping stage of getting married remain the only solution to curb what he described as marriage menace.
* Chibuzor Njideofor Foundation (CNF), a Non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation at Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State recently celebrated New year with over one thousand indigent widows, men, women, youth and the vulnerable.
Participants drawn from various States and religions in Nigeria but mostly resided at Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ekwusigo, Idemili North, Idemili South, Aguata and beyond, received at least a bag of rice or noodles after winning and dinning with the sponsor, Dr Chibuzor Njideofor, an international reputable businessman and global peace ambassador.
They also participated in different medical checkups officiated by 6 medical experts, including laboratory technicians, optometrist, consultants and nurses, receiving treatments for Typhoid, malaria, diabetes.
* The Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, has commissioned a newly established modern ICT centre at Boys Secondary School, Ojoto.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Okonkwo highlighted that the solar-powered computers, printers, and internet services in the ICT Centre will benefit the youth of Idemili and Ojoto, particularly students preparing for national examinations such as JAMB, WASSCE, and SSCE.
The Federal lawmaker further emphasized that the centre would support youths interested in acquiring digital skills such as content creation, digital marketing, graphic design, and video editing.
* The aftermath of the President General election in Ikem Ivite Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area, has sparked controversy as one of the candidates, Mr. Abuchi Nwakama publicly rejected the results announced by the electoral committee.
The President General election was initially scheduled for December 31st, 2024, but was canceled due to disruptions caused by supporters of both candidates.
Mr. Nwakama said the electoral process was riddled with irregularities and compromises, casting doubts on its credibility.
This claim by Mr. Nwakama followed after the election process turned chaotic as tensions escalated during the screening process, forcing security operatives to use teargas to disperse unruly crowds after heated altercations broke out among supporters of both candidates.
* Women from the Enugwu-Ukwu Community, under the Otu Odu-Eze (wives of Enugwu-Ukwu cabinet chiefs), have donated food items worth N5 million to indigent widows for their Christmas celebrations.
HRM Chief Lady Dora Ekpeh, wife of Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra, disclosed this in an interview with Newsmen during the annual Otu Odu Eze community Christmas empowerment programme in the area.
According to her, the food items distributed to women over time are worth N5 million.
Ekpeh, who also serves as the President of the women’s group, stated that it has supported over 3,000 indigent widows in the community over the five years of the initiative.
* The Anambra State Ministry of Health through the State Taskforce on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Food, has clamped down on Shops selling fake drugs and counterfeit food supplements in Eke Awka market.
Addressing the Media, the State Chairman of Taskforce, Pharm. Obum Madike, said the raid was in accordance with the provisions of Section C34 of the Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods Miscellaneous Provision Act of 1999”.
He explained further that the affected shops were raided for offence of sale of unregistered drugs and for non-compliance with other regulatory standards.
