# No fewer than 300 elderly men and women in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, have benefited from the monthly welfare programme of the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Fada Ebube Muonso, who distributed bags of rice and monthly salary payments to beneficiaries over the weekend.

The initiative, targeted at community members aged 75 years and above, is part of the cleric’s commitment to sustaining a lifelong legacy of caring for the elderly, the needy and other vulnerable groups in society.

Speaking during the presentation, Fr. Obimma said the gesture formed part of his cherished vision of spreading love, sharing with others and positively impacting lives.

The cleric noted that he had spent many years supporting the welfare and physical needs of less privileged persons, adding that the number of beneficiaries of his various financial and material assistance programmes over the years had become too numerous to count.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a Life Member and Coordinator of the Fada Ebube Muonso Elderly Support Foundation, Madam Angelina Ugonma Chukwura, expressed gratitude to the cleric for his continued commitment to easing the hardships faced by the elderly.

# Players of Rivers United Football Club was involved in a road traffic accident while traveling to Awka, Anambra State, for the President Federation Cup Round of 16 fixture against Nasarawa United.

Media Officer, Rivers United FC, Charles Mayuku informed supporters, stakeholders, and the general public through a press statement.

According to Mayuku, the incident occurred along the Obiri-Ikwerre Airport Road on the outskirts of Port Harcourt shortly after the team departed from the club’s camp.

# Eight pastors arrested from mainly Onitsha and Awka and other parts of Anambra State are currently being arraigned at the Anambra State High Court at the state judiciary complex Awka.

A Media Adviser to Anambra State Governor, Ejimofor Opara Phd, said the pastors who he described as fake pastors violated the 2025 Homeland Security Law.

The law which was passed into law in February 2025 frowns at certain forms of religious practices that are deemed inimical to the public, especially as it pertains to wealth creation.

The eight currently being arraigned are; Peter Chukwu, Chinedu Egwuonwu, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, Ebele Nnachukwu and Ekeleme Chris Ugochukwu.

The others are; Ndubisi Nnachukwu, Miracle Iruoma and Chukwukadibia Ogwuama.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, is leading the prosecution against the suspects.

# The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in its House of Representatives candidate, Hon. Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, Ph.D., ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At a strategic unity meeting held on Saturday party leaders from all 16 wards in Ogbaru reaffirmed their unwavering support for Awogu’s candidacy following his landslide victory in the party’s primary election.

The meeting was convened by the APC Chairman in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Patrick Chukwuma, and was attended by all 16 Ward Chairmen, the 16 Ward Women Leaders led by Hon. Mrs. Adaobi Okafor, youth leaders, party executives, and other critical stakeholders across the local government.

Speaking during the meeting, the party leaders described the outcome of the primary election as transparent, credible, and reflective of the collective will of APC members in Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
They noted that Awogu secured a resounding victory with 688 votes, defeating Mrs. Nkechi Isamade, who polled 41 votes.

# Anambra House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to establish comprehensive fire service stations and ensure the training of personnel across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state to tackle the increasing cases of fire outbreaks.

The 8th Assembly at plenary on Thursday,
directed the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources to urgently establish Fire Service Points, deploy firefighting equipment, and initiate rigorous personnel training across all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Anambra State.

The lawmaker representing Idemili South Constituency, Barrister Ebuka Igwe, who sponsored the motion noted that Anambra State has continued to witness recurrent fire incidents, including recent midnight outbreaks in markets and communities, which destroyed shops, buildings, and properties worth millions of naira.

Hon. Igwe stressed that effective fire prevention and rapid emergency response depend on the availability of modern firefighting equipment, trained personnel, functional fire stations, and the strategic deployment of resources across both urban and rural communities.

# The Otolo Nnewi in Diaspora Association has congratulated Hon. Tony Afam Muodielo on his emergence as the President-General-elect of Otolo Nnewi, describing his victory as a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by the people and evidence of his dedication to community service.

In a congratulatory message, the association praised Muodielo’s commitment, vision, and passion for the advancement of the Otolo community, expressing optimism that his leadership would usher in a new era of progress, innovation, and sustainable development.

According to the group, which was jointly signed by the Chairman of Otolo Nnewi in Diaspora, Comrade Ebuka Okafor (MD Ekweanaedo), and the Secretary, Comrade C.Y. Okeke, the outcome of the election demonstrated the trust and goodwill the PG-elect enjoys among the people.

They added that Muodielo’s ability to connect with the community and articulate a compelling vision for its future played a significant role in earning him the mandate.

The Association noted that Otolo Nnewi stands at an important point in its development journey and requires purposeful leadership capable of mobilizing stakeholders, strengthening unity, and driving initiatives that would improve the welfare of the people both at home and in the diaspora.

# The former Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo has asked ndi Ezenwanyi, why is it that when they receive the call to become Ezenwanyi, instead of staying in their husband’s house, they go back their father’s house to practice it.

Obinabo said she is confused whether it’s the Agwu spirit that dictates such for them or it is how it is done.

She noted that most of Ndi Ezenwanyi go back to their father’s house and instead of being peaceful, they start causing problems and bringing disunity in the family. She also narrated that they quarrel with the women married into the family.

She further called the general public to look into the matter because it’s getting out of hand.
